Texas Sen. Ted Cruz admitted Thursday that traveling to Cancun, Mexico as his constituents suffered in freezing homes amid power outages was "obviously a mistake."
The Republican spoke outside his Texas home as a sizable group of protesters chanted just yards away.
"It was obviously a mistake, and in hindsight, I wouldn't have done it," Cruz acknowledged. He reiterated his previous contention that he had gone in order to take his daughters to Mexico to get them out of the cold. "I was trying to be a dad," he said. "When you've got two girls who have been cold for two days and haven't had heat or power, and they're saying 'Look, we don't have school, why don't we go - let's get out of here . . . " The senator will join Sean Hannity Thursday night on Hannity at 9pm et.

I would need to know if he drove the policy to go green in
the state’s energy supply. He may have been rolled by the
Democrats in his state too, so he may deserve some rather
pointed criticism.

Doubt it. There is no one on this forum that wouldn’t have done the same thing if they had the chance. The optics are bad, but what the hell was he doing to fix this problem in the first place? All Cruz can do is throw debt onto the problem. This is all on Abbott. He runs the state and should have seen this coming. Cruz just represents.
I would bet my left testicle that you're wrong. This forum is riddled with active military, veterans, law enforcement, fire and medical first responders as well as people in critical infrastructure industries. There is little to no doubt in my mind that at any given time you could find somebody active on this forum who has cancelled a vacation, missed a family event, worked a planned day off, or lost leave because the duties and responsibilities of their work and their positions mandated they do so.
However, if he had stayed would his suffering lessened anyone elses? If John or Jackie down the block had a warm place to go does that mean he or she should stay freezing because it wouldn’t be fair to the neighbors? Yes the optics look bad but it’s an entirely human thing to do. That said, I haven’t followed this whole thing this thread is first I heard anything about Cruz and Bahamas.
