WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Cruz flew home from Mexico Thursday, amid outrage over his trip during a crisis-level storm in Texas — explaining he was only chaperoning his daughters and their friends on the flight.
The Republican lawmaker was seen getting back on a plane to the US on Thursday afternoon and issued a statement explaining that was not on a vacation himself, but was accompanying his daughters on a flight to theirs.

So I suppose nobody who is critical of his trip EVER goes south to escape the winter weather? And just what would he be able to do relative to this power crisis? He can’t fix it, can’t generate power, doesn’t have a crap load of generators laying around and can’t declare a disaster. I don’t get the outrage. Lots of crowding, people leaving hospitals. I’m listening to a local police scanner and it’s insane. 4-8 hour waits to get water stopped if pipes burst. People crapping in bags all over. The floods that’ll be here will probably be the worst part of it. I’m praying my washing machine in the garage doesn’t bust open, the knobs were frozen stiff when I left and couldn’t shut one off.
All good and fine, but Republicans couldn’t figure out how to capitalize on Democrat screw-ups when they’re handed them on a silver platter.
