Sen. Ted Cruz flew to Cancun, Mexico, with his family this week as Texas dealt with a winter storm that left millions without power, Fox News has confirmed.

Good lord. That is what the governor is for.
Good for Ted. I would of loved to have had the ability to go too.
I hope he had a great time with his family.
I am frankly dismayed at the criticisms. Any assistance calls Governor Abbot chooses to make to the Senator can be handled promptly.
The last thing my family and friends in Texas need is a phone call from a federal politician. More wood for the fireplace or a few gallons of water, maybe.
Yes, because we live in the 18th century and there is no other way for him to know those things. Why of course. Plus Cancun does not have telephones, so no way for him to make a call or two if he thinks by doing so he can help.
Most of the posters here have the right idea ... the vacay was probably planned awhile back. After all it was a three-day weekend. And exactly what was Cruz supposed to do? Hold up his hands and tell the weather to stay out of Texas?
There are too many double-digit IQ posters some days ...
Unless he borrowed John F’n Kerry’s Private Jet to get there, good for him.
Of course his Enemies on the Left will turn this into another Reichstag Fire, but it’s just the same old same old.
DEMOCRATS can get away with anything while people on our side of the fence can’t get away with even the smallest infraction.
The Left controls the Optics, period.
What??? Are you kidding....what the hell is wrong with him taking his family to Cancun????
As others have posted, what exactly was Cruz supposed to do? For all intents and purposes, he lives in Washington, D.C., not Texas. Is he supposed to snowmobile from the nearest unaffected town to Houston so he can get a photo op of him handing out water and food from the back of a truck? That is what liberals do so they can look good.
Too many times politicians just get in the way of those doing the real work. If the governor, lieutenant governor, and other emergency workers cannot get it done, highly doubtful that having Cruz there would help.
Of course the media - shallow, hateful, and delusional as they are - will have a field day with this.
Oh I get it. Leaders should loudly virtue signal when there is nothing else they can do. This crisis is not in his service line. If he were governor or a local official it would be a different story
Really....Why????
IT’S URGENT! If he does not return immediately he’ll lose the leftist Karen vote FOREVER. “Come back Ted, save yourself, please!”
One less house to electrify... Glad he left.
“Leftist Karens” are not Cruz’s problem—but some lessons can only be learned the hard way.
You come across as a bitter ex-girlfriend, very emotional and needy. It's not that hard to make an emotion-free logical case that it would be better for Cruz to be on site. Many on this thread are doing that.
It would be better symbolically, but he's not going to solve your power grid problems by his mere presence in the state.
If only he had driven around Texas in the back of a pickup truck in sackcloth and ashes, all of this concern troll hysteria would have been avoided.
LOL. Cruz = pompous ass. Me? Not so much. Lots of them in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and so forth. Enjoy!
Big deal... Bad Timing, but if had it planned and he didn’t have cancelation insurance for his reservations, he went. Much Ado about nothing.
Greetings newbie.
After a few months of conservative commentary on your part, many of us will start to consider the possibility that you are not a liberal troll.
You’re not there yet.
