The media rules are obvious and absolute..... “unexpected” is what they use to blunt bad economic news. It suggest that the news is an anomaly and if we only wait until the next report the unicorn really will produce a rainbow.
Another rule (hat tip Bongino) is “Republicans pounce”. They always put this in the headline for bad news. Instead of an honest headline such as “Biden kills pipeline jobs with stroke of a pen” they say “Republicans pounce as Biden kills pipeline”. In other words they try to make the reaction of Republicans a big part of the story instead of the bad news contained therein.
It is so obvious. Watch for it and you will see how true this is....
