I could be wrong, but I have the impression that private security was omnipresent in every aspect of Rush’s private life, and had been this way for a long time. There was always someone monitoring the grounds, or vetting any new hires, or receiving and sorting his mail.
Someone to review what foods were brought into the home.
Someone to review the video of what the night cameras ‘saw’ last night.
I don’t know how Rush and his wife handled recreation. Very likely, they had a private plane and boat available. Or maybe sometimes, they threw caution to the winds, and calmly walked about like anyone else in the shopping mall. At the beach. There have been scores of people who have wished Rush great harm since second Reagan Administration.
Similar to the way a Head of State has to live.
