Britt Reid is alleged to have caused the three-car pile-up and is being investigated by cops for possible driving under the influence after admitting to drinking prior to the smash.
The 35-year-old linebackers coach for the NFL giants suffered minor injuries during the February 4 crash.
Reid's pickup smashed into two stationary cars, injuring two children aged four and five, cops in Kansas say.
The girl who was seriously injured, identified as Ariel, has now woken up from a coma, according to an update to a GoFundMe page posted by her aunt, Tiffany Verhulst.
"Ariel is awake," said Verhulst.
Reid told police he had “two or three drinks” and had a prescription for Adderall when the accident occurred, according to a search warrant.
After the Super Bowl LV - which the Chiefs lost 31-9 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Britt's father spoke candidly about what had happened.
“My heart goes out to those involved, the family of those little girls fighting for their lives,’’ Andy Reid said after the game.
"From a human standpoint, my heart bleeds for them.’’
Reid refused to use the incident as an excuse for his side's loss, pointing out “the game plan was put in a week ago’.’
“From a human standpoint, yeah, it’s a tough one,’’ he said, according to the New York Post.
“From a football standpoint … two separate things. From a football standpoint, I don’t think that was the problem.’’
Britt Reid allegedly admitted having "two or three drinks" on top of prescription drugs before the crash near the NFL side's stadium.
Police reportedly said they could smell alcohol on Reid, and his eyes were bloodshot.
The older of the two girls was left in a "in very critical condition" after suffering swelling and bleeding on the brain, according to her family.
Verhulst posted heartbreaking photos of her cousin's daughter Ariel in hospital.
Thousands of dollars have now been raised for the seriously injured youngster who has been left in coma.
According to a GoFundMe for the girl more than $487,000 has now raised from 12,300
"Ariel, 5 years old, suffered swelling in and bleeding in and around the brain. She is in critical condition and hasn’t woken since the crash," GoFundMe page read.
"Ariel will be in the hospital for the foreseeable future, this is set up for the hospital bills and weeks of missed work that will come.
"No child deserves to go through this, nor should any mother have to see her child like this."
The incident report provided by the Kansas City Missouri Police department police reportedly said that a car ran out of gas on an on-ramp to Interstate 435 in Kansas City.
After the driver called relatives for help, a second car arrived, also parked on the on-ramp.
According to the police report, a third car, which local news outlet KSHB said was driven by Britt Reid, came along and struck the left front of the disabled vehicle, before slamming into the rear of the second vehicle.
The five-year-old child was sat in the backseat, along with a four-year-old child, who was also taken to an area hospital by ambulance, but with non-life-threatening injuries.
Reid joined the Chiefs in 2013 as a defensive assistant and worked his way through the ranks to become the outside linebackers coach in 2019.
Following the crash, he was placed on leave through the duration of his contract, which has since expired.
If he was drunk, throw him in jail. But whoever was in charge of the kids was at fault, as well.
"Reid, who was a Lutheran, become a Mormon after meeting his wife, Tammy. They have been married since 1981. They have five children, three sons (Garrett, Britt and Spencer), and two daughters (Drew Ann and Crosby). Reid and his family are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Reid's sons have both struggled with drug and alcohol problems. Reid's oldest son, Garrett, suffered from drug addiction for several years and served time in prison for various crimes. He was found dead from a heroin overdose on August 5, 2012, in his dormitory room at the Eagles’ training site; he was 29 years old. Britt Reid, currently the Chiefs' linebackers and outside linebackers coach, had previously been arrested for drug possession and brandishing a handgun at another motorist in suburban Philadelphia, in 2007. Days before the Super Bowl in 2021, Britt Reid, driving his Ram pickup truck, slammed into a car carrying two small children. One is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries."
Two or three drinks. Right. Sure.
Andy Reid’s parenting seems to have been sub-par.
Britt Reid is what? 35 y/o, and his Daddy is speaking for him? Maybe his lawyer told him not to talk to the press. Britt probably feels lower than Whale sh** about now.
“Britt Reid is alleged to have caused the three-car pile-up”
So this is why he usually lets Kato drive for him.
Lord we thank You for the return of this young child and we ask you to renew her spirit and lift her up, and lift up her family as well.
She was in a car with another relative and her sibling. If the other driver was not at fault in the accident (I don’t know that to be true), then how is it the fault of the person in charge of them? Should parents never take kids for rides in the car, lest a drunk driver hit them?

So, you have insight into the family upbringing. As with all children and adults, choices have consequences, despite parental degree of influence. As the old saying goes, “you can lead a horse to the water but can not make him drink. I have 4 siblings who have two divorces each. I have never been divorced and married 48 years. They made their choices and I live with mine! I think you should give Andy Reid some slack.

WOW her GoFundMe is about to cross half-a-million. Some good still remains in the Remnant of this sad world. I hope her family can deal with life-changing money, not to mention what Reid’s insurance is going to proffer.
I sincerely hope everything your kids do is blamed on you.
She woke up and said Tom Brady came to me and said i got some good news and bad news you will wake up but oh nevermind. good for her
I woud have donated but i sent money to gorilla girl
Cruz Alejandro Martinez only got sentenced to 4 years in jail.............
I have ALL the legal facts from the accident report, the coroners report and the court judgment. The only information I have been unable to find is where Cruz Alejandro Martinez is today since his address of record is titled to a male and female of two different names which indicates to me that Cruz Alejando Martinez may have been an illegal........
In 2001, illegals were not an issue as they are today and were being ignored by our government........
> Two or three drinks. Right. Sure. <
Multiply what a drunk says by three and you’ll probably get close to the real number.
Car seats? Just curious.
Britt was staring down prison for man slaughter if that girl died.
Well, as the old saying, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. If it’s one kid screwing up in the family, then maybe it’s just on the one kid. Some slack granted. But if multiple Reid sons are substance-abusing losers, then doesn’t it raise questions about their parents? Sure, it’s possible that Andy was a model dad but Mrs. R. sucks as a mom. I’m sorry, but when multiple kids are screwing up, one or both parents have some culpability. I’m living in the real world. When I meet people whose children are solid people, I figure that the parents did something right. Conversely, if people whose kids are drug-abusing bums, I’m less likely to figure that the parents did something right.
