"Build wind and solar."

With this deep freeze and its rolling blackouts, Texas is suffering a double whammy:

  1. People with electric Heat Pumps (commonly used in moderate climates) have been using huge amounts of power because when it's too cold, the heat exchanger fails to do anything, and that causes the emergency resistance-heating coils to kick in. They are huge coils that glow red as they burn thru megawatts of power.
  2. Over half their wind turbines have been shut down because they can't operate in ultra-low temperatures without tearing themselves apart.

So much for wind power in deep-freeze weather.

Once we go green, Americans will starve & freeze & melt.

That is the plan, to save us.

My wife saw some meme that said Texas was doing the blackouts so all the newly arrived liberal Californians would feel at home.

Texas has millions of people without power right now.
The windmills don’t seem to be working. Might be nice to have some of those old coal burning plants online right now.

Day 1, Jao’s acting Interior Secretary in the Junta signed an illegal criminal decree that banned oil and gas leasing on public lands and offshore in the USA, and halted all drilling permits for public lands or waters.

So in the midwest, and even in Texas, we will just have to freeze in the dark now, mo matter who we voted for.

Just imagine how cold it would be without the global warming bump!

That was all the talk here in KC with the days of below zero temps. I checked Evergy’s outage map throughout the day and didn’t see too many outages - nothing like what was announced. I feel like I’m back in LA - but that was nothing. I’d rather have the heat than bitter cold.

I’m experiencing it in Texas now.

And as with California, by Energy Dept emergency order they’ve lifted pollution limits today to permit greater pruction.

This is a regulation problem. The Greens are the problem. Their turbines aren’t producing their claim share.

The issue with natural gas is pipeline capacity. Natural gas powered plants don’t run constantly like nukes and coal fired plants (maintenance outage excepted. You can only run so many at a time when natural gas is in high demand for heating.

The turbines are freezing up. And people are running their own generators now

I felt the need to pick up some power units in the last couple
of months. I now have 5.6 kilowatts at my disposal if a
blackout should hit here.

Rather than heat up the whole house, I emptied out a small
closet.

I capped off the upper level of the closet, reducing the
total square footage of the space.

I now use a low watt heater in there, and am very comfortable
on colder nights.

I’ll watch Netflix or even scan Free Republic in there.

It’s a good setup.

I found a timer that will allow me to set up a 2 minute
on and 8 minutes off regimen.

I can run that for 8 hours over three days on one power
unit.

I recharge using solar cells.’

My goal is to get down to where I use not electricity from
the city. I should be able to do that.

2021 repeats the pain of 2020.

Every month it just gets worse.

Cumulatively it’s still been getting worse every month since the coordinated theft on election night.

Two words: Keystone Pipeline

Not sure any power plants burn the end products from the Canadian tar sands.
