On Parkland school shooting anniversary, President Joe Biden calls for stronger gun laws: ‘The time to act is now’

Sorrow reverberated across the country Sunday as Americans, including President Joe Biden, joined a Florida community in remembering the 17 lives lost three years ago in the Parkland school shooting massacre.

“In seconds, the lives of dozens of families, and the life of an American community, were changed forever,” Biden said in a statement released Sunday.

The president used the occasion to call on Congress to strengthen gun laws, including requiring background checks on all gun sales and banning assault weapons.

There was no time to wait, the president said. “We owe it to all those we’ve lost and to all those left behind to grieve to make a change. The time to act is now.”

"On Parkland school shooting anniversary, President Joe Biden calls for stronger gun laws: ‘The time to act is now’"
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Patriots are reminded that the states have never expressly constitutionally given the feds the specific power to make peacetime restrictive gun laws.

”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.

So hypothetically speaking, you can take 2nd Amendment (2A) away and the feds still don't have express constitutional power to make restrictive gun laws.

In fact, the congressional record shows that Rep. John Bingham, a constitutional lawmaker, had clarified that the states have never expressly constitutionally given the feds the specific power to make peacetime penal laws, not even for murder, until the 14th Amendment (14A) was ratified.

"Our Constitution never conferred upon the Congress of the United States the power - sacred as life is, first as it is before all other rights which pertain to man on this side of the grave - to protect it in time of peace by the terrors of the penal code within organized states; and Congress has never attempted to do it. There never was a law upon the United States statute-book to punish the murderer for taking away in time of peace the life of the noblest, and the most unoffending, as well, of your citizens, within the limits of any State of the Union. The protection of the citizen in that respect was left to the respective States, and there the power is to-day [emphases added].” —Rep. John Bingham, Congressional Globe. (See bottom half of third column.)

The reason that Bingham had mentioned no federal power to make peacetime penal code until 14A is this. Ironically, 14A gave Congress the specific power to make only penal laws that STRENGTHEN all constitutionally enumerated rights, including 2A, from abridgment by state actors.

In fact, Bingham had included 2A when he read Bill of Rights as main examples of personal protections that 14A applies to the states.

John Bingham, Congressional Globe. (See 2nd Amendment (Article II) about in middle of 2nd column.)

It is disturbing that federal peacetime gun regulations seem to have started appearing in the books during FDR Administration, FDR and the Congress at that time infamous for making laws which they had no express constitutional authority to make.

Franklin Roosevelt: The Father of Gun Control

So Biden once again needs to be impeached for unconstitutionally expanding the already unconstitutionally big federal government's powers, this time for pushing for unconstitutional restrictive federal gun laws.

Insights welcome.

Call your local gun store and suggest they put up a sign that no Biden supporters will be allowed to purchase any guns or ammo.

Make them sign an affidavit before ringing them up.

How many "second and third chances" did he give Nikolas Cruz before he finally killed 17 people? He was flat out warned that Cruz was planning to "shoot up the school". The Parkland shooting rests on Scott Israel's shoulders.

The Democratic Party has seized power. They are intending to make their rule permanent. They are flooding Texas and Florida with immigrants to turn blue.

Biden’s focused on immigration first. His words are hollow. It’s clear the game plan is too focus on other, non-gun control issues first, and pray that a shooting happens to give Biden an ‘opening.’ He and his administration are probably literally waiting on it and have plans drawn up.

You are right. They don’t want to let a crisis go to waste. So it’s quite possible that on guns, they will push action right after another shooting.

And maybe cooperative cable news outlets will conveniently have town halls where they can heckle a spokeswoman from the NRA to make a political statement. I wonder if the liberals have ever thought of such an event ???

My back of the napkin math tells me gun owners would number over 20,000,000 and be well led by veterans.

That's the largest army ever, anywhere.
