The Oregon Department of Education is promoting a program for teachers that seeks to “disman[tle] racism in mathematics,” alleging that focusing on finding the right answer is a symbol of white supremacy.
Fox News reported that the ODE sent out a newsletter last week that mentions a “Pathway to Math Equity Micro-Course” that will occur on February 21. The course, according to Fox, is designed for middle school teachers to make use of a toolkit for ‘dismantling racism in mathematics.’”
The newsletter encourages teachers to sign up for the training, which the New York Post previously reported includes a section with 14 things associated with “White Supremacy Culture,” including perfectionism, objectivity, and individualism.
Objectivity is described the workbook accompanying the training as “the belief that there is such a thing as being objective or ‘neutral.'” The program’s toolkit also encourages teachers not to focus on a single correct answer, but to “come up with at least two answers that might solve this problem” and to “Challenge standardized test questions by getting the ‘right’ answer, but justify other answers by unpacking the assumptions that are made in the problem.”
The toolkit also asks instructors to “center ethnomathematics” in multiple ways, one of which is to “identify and challenge the ways that math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist, and racist views.”
Dumb or just plain evil? Common core didn’t work?

The relatives of the people who are pushing this. They don’t want EVERYONE stupid. Just the underclass. They have the as welfare slaves, so now is the time to bring the hammer down and end any chance of escape through knowledge.
It is just like the people who push lefty politics about wealth sharing use that platform to become ludicrously rich while not sharing any of their own wealth.
Caring enough to learn how to get the right answer and then do it MAKES a person superior, no matter what their race. Blacks who are objective and logical and can do math are superior to white libs that think objectivity is optional. If they actually cared about blacks, they teach these things, but then they wouldn’t vote Dem, so....I think we’ve found the problem.
Well there is already a very deep rooted quota system in basically every facet of American life. So you can rest assured that these people will indeed be involved in the “design”, etc. of our buildings, bridges, airplanes, cars, etc. etc.
Is getting the votes counted correctly an objective of any educator?
This program not so subtly promotes the idea that some people can’t do math. That there are two kinds of people: the whites and the Asians on the one hand, and those who can;’t do math on the other hand.
This is utterly racist.
The alternative view is that at any given time in history prior to the emergence of a global society, one or another group of people will be more advanced.
Prior to about 500 AD, the group of people who were ahead, were located on a crescent connecting the Mediterranean Sea with China.
After about 1000 AD, the locus of the most advanced civilization shifted to the north. In Europe, from the Mediterranean to the white Europeans. People who had been barbarians just a few hundred prior, became the most advanced.
(A similar shift took place in China, where among other things the capital moved from South China to the north. But that’s just a side note.)
The fact that Germans (among others) could go from barbarians to among the most advanced in just a few hundred years suggests that this can happen with others.
In our own country, immigrant whites from Italy, Poland and elsewhere, and immigrant Asians caught up to the average IQ of the white Europeans in 2 to 3 generations.
In eastern Europe, upon the fall of the Berlin Wall, the IQs of east Germans, Poles and Estonians quickly approximated those of west Germans and Swedes.
Having to succeed in a competitive and constantly-changing free-market economy is like a smart pill in that it causes people to develop their God-given potential.
Contrariwise, welfare dependency, drug use, crime, bad schools, fatherlessness and what else we see in Democrat-run cities should be recognized to be a form of genocide.
I’ve seen this firsthand. I know someone in education planning in Wisconsin.
They’ve done it their whole life. She is a pure leftist political ideologue. This person spends 100% on political activism, and worked diligently to help present Gov. Evers get elected, which is probably illegal - but who’s going to do anything?
I don’t know. Was the plane carrying white, or black, people? You can see how the new math will work.
Oh, wow. So it’s not enough for the left to encourage a culture that shuns success, but the left must now institutionalize a refusal to even try to teach kids. So those few kids who actually want something better and recognize that a good education is the way out of the slum are going to be shackled just as surely as when the left kept them on plantations.
Despicable.
They should just dissolve mathematics. Just teach kids how to live under bridges, how to hunt bears, how to survive off roots/berries, and how to find safe spaces.

If blacks and other races can be proud of their groups having accomplished next to nothing, surely it should be OK for whites, who have contributed 90% to civilization, to have a smidgen of pride in their race.
Embrace the insult and kick them in the balls!
And if they happened to be black-ish, were they actually conservatives - if so, they don’t count.
