**Press Release**
Shooting Incident at the Speedway
On Thursday, February 11, 2021, at approximately 5:30PM, The Loris Police Department responded to 5370 Broad Street in the City of Loris in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival Officers located a white male approximately 32 years of age laying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the upper torso unresponsive and officers immediately performed CPR until EMS arrived on scene. EMS transported the unresponsive male to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
After speaking to many witnesses on scene it was determined that this incident stemmed from what appeared to be a road rage incident that spilled into the parking lot of the speedway.
It appeared that a truck pulled to the gas pumps with another pickup truck following closely behind. The first pickup truck stops at a gas pump and the second pickup truck stops behind it and a white male steps out the pickup truck with what appeared to be a knife and approached the first pickup truck. The white male with the knife opens the door of the first pickup truck and the driver fired one round striking the male with the knife in self-defense.
The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by The Loris Police Department.
The Loris Police Department is committed to making the community a safer place to live and is working hard to accomplish this goal. It is critical that residents partner with The Loris Police Department and report any and all suspicious activity. Anyone having information related to this incident is encouraged to contact The Loris Police Department at 843-756-4000 and ask for Detective Stevens.
that idiot won’t do that again...
......”...a white male approximately 32 years of age laying on the ground with a gunshot wound....” I thought only chickens “laid” anything....how about the correct “lying on the ground....”
Interesting that the color of the shooter wasn’t mentioned
Where the hell is Loris? If you post these, list the state/country. Most of us haven’t memorized the thousands of cities/counties and there state/country.
I do not expect much from Police Department press releases, except factual accuracy.
I do not expect great grammar and spelling on facebook press releases from a 12 person police department.
For the size of the department, they are doing well.
Maybe someone can organize a voluntary group of grammar and spell checkers, who will be willing to pre-check, on a moment's notice, press releases before they go out.
Call them the "Grammar Minutemen". Maybe today, the "Grammar Minutepersons".
The title shows SC. That is the abbreviation for South Carolina. It is standard freerepublic practice.
Heck, it took reading 3/4 through to find out the “Speedway” was the gas station chain and not a racetrack...
Bringing a knife to a gun fight. A good idea, pre 10th century.
That’s a wonderful idea.
Ahh. Speedway gas station!
I kept wondering how the Speedway was part of the story.
I am a professional, full time writer.
I would use them, if they could provide a timely service.
The turn-around would have to be less than two hours.
I think it could be done.
Is there a group, maybe "Grammar anonymous" which could organize this?
There are many people obsessed with grammar and spelling. Why not be willing to participate in promoting better practice in grammar and spelling on the Internet?
North Dakota.
Nice catch.
They are sure quick to announce the race if everyone involved.
I guess that’s the “white privilege” I keep hearing about.
What is up with little men in their big trucks?
These punks are the biggest road ragers on the highways and byways of this sad & pathetic nation.
This story has a happy ending clearly.
Another dead white male with road rage!
They are a dime a dozen - especially truck drivers.
We “little men” need the trucks to carry tools to do real work. I have cars to travel. But I have a big bumper with a big winch, which I use frequently. I also carry at least 2 guns, depending on which situation I go into. I won’t provoke a fight. What do you drive? DIL lived in Chicago, and you would have had to park a truck half a mile from her apartment as the parking spaces were so small, and you parked on alternate sides of the street each day. Had to park wife’s van far away as it wouldn’t fit into the parking spaces. All the tiny cars on her street had damage on the corners of the fenders from people hitting them while parallel parking. I would never live anyplace like that.
yea...
