"....A majority of senators voted to convict Trump โ€” 57 to 43, including seven Republicans. But two-thirds, or 67 votes, was needed to convict. It was the second time Trump was acquitted in an impeachment trial.

The seven GOP senators who voted to convict Trump on Saturday were: Richard Burr of North Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania......"

I’m pretty sure the democrat who ran for office would have also voted to convict Trump, and then he’d also give them 51 votes, and there’d be no power-sharing, and the filibuster would be broken.

But I’m sure you would feel a lot better, so there’s that.

Seriously, everybody should vote for whoever they want. Elections have consequences, but that doesn’t mean you have to think about those consequences when you vote.

A nation of votes, and not of laws.

No matter, President Trump accomplished more in 4 years than any President I can recall (Flashback #1: Reagan ended the Cold War...yet before the end of his 2nd term the Fuzzy Heads were calling him an "amiable dunce")

Flashback #2-When Trump started...
-Vets were waiting up to 6 months to get a 1st appointment with a doctor;
-North Korea was lobbing missiles over Japan, threatening to nuke Seattle, SF ('THE City') and LA;
-ISIS was operating in a large Caliphate carved from other nations, busily beheading people, especially Christians;
-Obama was trying to rig the Israeli election against Benjamin Netanyahu;
-The US economy was dragging along at a snail's pace since the last-past recession of 2008 (anybody remember the concept of 'recession'?);
-Planes containing pallets of billions of dollars in cash were struggling to stay aloft all the way to Tehran;
-Many taxpayers were paying an additional tax in order to escape paying for a healthcare plan they didn't want;
I could go on...and on...

Thank you, President Trump for 4 years of peace, prosperity and good governance...though the Fuzzy Heads will never know peace...or good governance.

Congress should now get busy with preparations for the next Impeachment of a Former President. May I suggest Bill Clinton? For sexual assault of Kathleen Willey in the White House?

“Scum: Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania”

Ok, Collins just got reelected, Toomey is not running again, what about the other five scum, any of them running in ‘22? Burr and Cassidy are not on that list, although they also voted to convict. These traitorous turds have to be primaried. Do not contribute to the pubbie coffers until they rid themselves of this crap.

-- Susan Collins voted NOT to impeach Bill Clinton. --

I wonder what her form letter said about that.

I called her Portland office yesterday requesting a personalized sending of the impeachment form letter. The pixie dealing with me wasn't sure if they could do that, but after consulting with her manager, said the office could accommodate my request.

I used to make reasoned requests for answer to particular questions. I have never received a responsive answer. So now I don't offer an opinion, demand, or other expression of my point of view. Just send me that nice personalized position hash.

I didn’t vote for Collins in 2014. I did a write-in of a local Republican businessman I know.

I voted for Collins this time because I assumed President Trump would win the election (he did) and I wanted the GOP to have control of the Senate (for whatever that’s worth) in a second Trump term.

I also voted for Collins because she supported President Trump’s Supreme Court picks....with the exception of Amy Coney Barrett....and the majority of the president’s other judicial picks. Collins also voted for the Trump tax cuts.

She’s always been a puppet of the Bush wing of the party.

Her RAT opponent in 2020 was (now) former Maine Speaker of the House Sarah Gideon. Basically, she is a 48 year old version of AOC, complete with the little girl voice. No good.

Independent Max Linn was WAY down in the polls, and a vote for him may have triggered Maine’s “rank choice” voting law. A candidate has to have 50% of the vote plus just one additional vote to avoid it.

Collins won in 2014 with 67% of the vote....this time, she received 51% of the vote.

Max Linn wanted to run against Angus King in that Senate race in 2018, but Linn failed to win the Republican primary. His lawn signs said, “Trump Strong.”

I wonder if anyone realizes that by saying that Trump was acquitted today by the senate, we are in a sense legitimizing their unconstitutional process???

If the process was unconstitutional in the absence of the chief justice, or in light of Trump’s civilian status, then was Trump truly acquitted?

Was Trump even constitutionally impeached a second time?

If impeachment is not official until the articles are delivered to the senate, then Trump actually was never even impeached a second time!!

Do I have this wrong???

I think that is what the 43 Republicans were saying.

Honestly, if it was constitutional, there wasn’t such a strong base of Trump supporters that can make life miserable for politicians and the way Trump’s lawyers defended Trump or lack thereof, I really don’t know how it all would have gone down.
