President Joe Biden is reportedly considering domestic travel restrictions to slow the spread of coronavirus variants while effectively opening the nation’s borders to unvetted foreign trespassers.
“This is a war and we’re at battle with the virus. War is messy and unpredictable, and all options are on the table,” an anonymous White House official told the Miami Herald, singling out Florida, where a third of all strains of the U.K. variant found in the U.S. has been identified.
The variant, known as B.1.1.7 is supposedly more transmissible, doubling in the United States every 10 days according to a new study published Sunday. The study has not yet been peer-reviewed. According to Stanford University professor of medicine Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, the COVID-19 vaccines and previous COVID-19 infection currently appear to give good protection against the U.K. and other newer variants.

Federal travel sanctions on Florida, where the state’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has allowed the economy to remain open with a focused protection approach to prioritizing the vulnerable that so far appears effective, would contradict the Biden administration’s embrace of open borders.

The New York Times reports that illegal entrants in Texas are not being screened for COVID unless they show detectable symptoms and are being released indefinitely into the United States instead of returned to their home countries:
Health authorities in San Diego have ruled that those crossing into California must remain at the hotel for 10 days before being allowed to go onward. There is no similar quarantine requirement in Texas for migrants who arrive with no coronavirus symptoms, according to volunteers working with the migrants; there, they said, those released by Border Patrol are being allowed to board buses and travel to other destinations.

I live in Florida. Wife and I are out regularly. They make it sound like people are just dying in the streets, hospitals are overflowing, and lines are forming around city blocks for care. It’s nothing like that.
He doesn’t want republicans spreading to Washington D.C. once the temperature goes back up this summer.
If state and local police choose not to enforce federal rules, does Biden have enough federal police to do it instead?

Outside of certain high risk areas, like hospitals, it is almost like we’re free again.

DeSantis has done a pretty good job of balancing the interests I think. He opened things up, let local government take control for the most part and kept the economy growing. But at the same time we’ve done quite well compared to the Blue States when it comes to controlling the virus.

Mexico posted a record spike in coronavirus cases on Friday, with 21,366 newly confirmed infections, about double the daily rate of increase just a week ago. The country also recorded 1,106 more deaths.
It was unclear if the spike was due to the presence of the U.K. virus variant, of which only one case has so far been confirmed in a visiting British citizen.
The country has now seen almost 1.61 million total infections and has seen registered over 139,000 deaths so far in the pandemic.
The country’s extremely low testing rate means that is an undercount, and official estimates suggest the real death toll is closer to 195,000. So little testing is done that 8% of all those who got a test later died during recent weeks; normally, only people with severe symptoms are tested.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday announced stricter restrictions on travelers in response to new, likely more contagious variants of the novel coronavirus — including making it mandatory for travelers to quarantine in a hotel at their own expense when they arrive in Canada and suspending airline service to Mexico and all Caribbean destinations until April 30.
Trudeau said in addition to the pre-boarding test Canada already requires, the government will be introducing mandatory PCR testing at the airport for people returning to Canada.
"Travelers will then have to wait for up to three days at an approved hotel for their test results, at their own expense, which is expected to be more than $2,000," Trudeau said.

Biden’s able to hide in the fog of the impeachment. When that’s over hopefully focus will turn to what he’s doing, or trying to do.
Red state governors across the country need to push back by issuing their own counter-executive orders. The Oklahoma governor just issued one. The governors in the Keystone Pipeline Phase 4 states — Montana, South Dakota, and Nebraska need to do the same.
States rights matter, and the Biden administration is intent on trampling them more than any other president in recent memory — including Obama.
