In December, Floridians celebrated their ninth coldest Christmas on record, and the coldest in 21 years. Even South Florida, that frost-free region of palm trees and margaritas, was shivering on Christmas Day. Broward County issued a "cold-weather emergency," ensuring shelter for all homeless persons, and further north, residents were outside covering plants to protect them from freezes.
It wasn't just Christmas Day. Cold in the Sunshine State this year has been unrelenting. Residents report using three times the natural gas they did last year (when the high temperature on Christmas Day in South Florida reached 71 in many places). And there is no end in sight: as I write, the 14-day forecast for Jacksonville calls for temperatures on many days 10 to 15 degrees below average.
It isn't just Florida. Temperatures are colder this year throughout the southeastern U.S., while massive snowfalls have hit the northeast. All in all, it is turning into one of the coldest and snowiest winters in the history of the eastern U.S. It's just the right time to be spending $6.7 trillion in federal, state, and mandated private-sector funds to fight global warming.
"We must take drastic action now," President Biden says, "to address the climate disaster facing our nation and the world." From where I sit — in Florida — the only "disaster" is the widespread and lasting cold — global cooling that threatens the homeless, seniors prone to pneumonia and flu, agricultural production, and the 24 million Floridians who want it to be warm.
As it is, there is little chance that spending $6.7 trillion will change the weather patterns. The U.N.'s IPCC has admitted as much, especially with two thirds of the world (China, India, Indonesia, and the rest) exempt from the Paris Climate Accord.

Why don’t we all just agree.... Climate change is occurring, and has done so long before the existence of man, but significant changes in the Earth’s climate have taken place as a result of natural influences: variations in the tilt of the Earth’s axis, volcanic activity, changes in ocean currents, and cyclic changes in solar radiation. By comparison, man-made contributions are modest.
Countless warming cycles, including the Neoproterozoic Period, were vastly warmer than what the IPCC projects by the end of the current century, and no one can say human beings caused warming in the Neoproterozoic: it was between 600 and 800 million years ago. Even the Medieval Warm Period, from 900 to 1300 A.D., was warmer than current temperatures. Human beings were not causing that period of warming, either. The Earth warms and cools all by itself.
Lets all agree to something else. This has nothing to do with climate or weather. It has everything to do with control.
Im in Sarasota. It will go to mid 80”s today and the forecast for the next two weeks is the same. They say it is unseasonably warm now. So what’s it gonna be?
Whats next? are they going to tell us that the pollution from our cars and factories didn’t cause the ICE AGE from the 1950’s to about 1980?? If it wasn’t for the pollution from our cars and factories causing Global Warming, how did it cause us to come out of the Ice Age we created 40 years ago by emitting pollution from our cars and factories???
The extra cold on Earth is due to the current solar minimum in the sunspot cycle.
In Barrow, AK this morning, it was -44F.
I think motor oil solidifies at this temperature.
Cold.
Warm.
Rain.
Dry.
It does not matter.
The lefties want to f&^% you over, any which way they can.
You forgot “average”. Sometimes the climate is too average, which is also a sign of glorbullwarning.
Cannot speak for Sarasota, but in NE Florida it has been unseasonably cold for two months. Today though we should see the 70s.
I gather climate wise, the cold is dropping down in the mid west to the southern states and in front of that the temperatures are rising on southwest winds.
Does not bother me a tad as I rather be warm then cold!
Globull warming.
I still think our unusual weather is caused by the weakening of the Van Allen radiation belt as we are going into a magnetic polar reversal or more likely, an anomoly. This along with how rapidly magnetic North has been moving away from Canada and toward Siberia.
I think these have to have some impact on atmospheric and oceanic currents and are kind of playing havoc with the climate. I don’t think we are warming anymore, which is too bad because warmer weather means more food and less disease. I really think the polar reversal and rapidly shifting magnetic North are behind the weird climate we are experiencing after our most recent block of stable climate during the 20th century.
That is a good point too. Very logical.
You people just do not understand. When it gets warmer... it proves that man made global warming is happening. When it gets colder... it proves that man made global warming is happening. When your man leaves you a better looking and barely legal younger woman... it proves that man made global warming is happening. When your dog takes a crap in the house... it proves that man made global warming is happening. You have just got to follow the science. /s
That’s what weather does. It changes. And this article is BS. We haven’t had one hard freeze this season in FL. No covering plants or anything. Slow news day I guess.

80 degrees here today in the People’s Free State of Florida.

This is quite remarkable - in less than a month after taking office, Biden has stopped global warming dead in its tracks.
Nothing short of a miracle!
