Friedman's ultimate point isn't quite as bad as it sounds in this excerpt. I went and listened to the whole thing, and his point was actually that the whole impeachment thing is stupid. That it is a petty waste of time, energy, and national focus -- "unserious" was his word, and that the Chinese aren't wasting time on stupid stuff like that.

I don't like Friedman, and there is a lot even in this interview with which I disagreed. But the particular point being referenced here isn't quite fair. Cuomo didn't say anything in response to Friedman because Friedman wasn't on board with impeachment, and Cuomo didn't want to draw attention to that point.
