Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds on Friday signed an order which rolled back COVID-19 restrictions, lifting the state's mask mandate and capacity limits in bars and restaurants.
The conservative lawmaker 'strongly encouraged' residents with medical conditions and those over the age of 65 to limit activities outside of the home as she signed a new Public Health Disaster proclamation to ease existing public health measures from Sunday.
As well as ending the requirement for masks in public spaces, the order lifts the capacity limit of 15 people for indoor gatherings and 30 people for outdoor gatherings across the state.

It’s a miracle!!
He ought to tell Biden to save our money and skip Iowa with his stupid mask delivery
Fingers crossed for you Iowa. Ban the Fauci family visits, just to be sure./s
The best news is that Iowa residents can still choose to live life as hermits. They can still watch other Iowans living through multi-layered glass and plexiglass.
WUT!? Cant have that now. Close that state DOOOOWWWWN.
At last. A rational policy. Governor DeSantis. Are you listening?
...so does this mean you can shop for groceries in Iowa WITHOUT having to wear a damn mask???
in spite of new UK variant!!!!! Cant help throwing in the fear porn at the end, F the good news your all gonna die!!!!! Do what you are told
I just shot an email to Gov. Lee in TN to follow suit. True conservative and Christian governors need to get on the ball and resist the tyranny. We’re all doing it a little bit, as much as we can, but it has to be bigger.
It’s a “she” governor, not a “he” governor, but that’s OK.
Since Biden is all about using taxpayer money to enrich himself, his family, and his cronies, I bet the masks cost the government $20 each and the contract goes to one of Biden’s pals. This isn’t about our health. It never was.
Of course, the mayor of Des Moines still has a mask mandate for the city. What a tool.
Well there is nothing saying a store can still demand/require a mask. I would expect the major chains will still require one for a while. But they no longer have the excuse that "the government" is making them do it. So this is great news to get the ball rolling to a mask free Iowa.
I live in a rural area of Iowa, and it is a different world than urban Iowa. I have been going to the grocery store and hardware store without a mask. Employees don't care, and probably half the customers have not been wearing them either.
Iowa has been relatively free compared to other states. Kids have been in school all year. They have been opening up the gyms for high school hoops even more lately. I went to a big rivalry game the other night, and it was glorious. 100s of people in the gym. Masks are required, but not if you are eating. Many people have learned to take an hour to eat a bag of popcorn.
Gotta love the “despite” dig at the end.
Heh, the UK is sooooo doomed.
Oh well, the birthplace of 1984 evidently still believes that the book was an instruction manual.
No wait, so does Slow Joe, the Ho and fantastic Fauci.
Quick math. Worldometer reports 325,000 cases. Iowa population 3.1 million. One month ago CDC Data Suggested 1/8 cases uncovered with testing.
If accurate 82% Iowans have had disease. Fauci the fraud says herd is 80%. The number he wants vaccinated. The graph in Iowa looks like a herd has been reached. Additionally. Look at the UK case graph. They have reached a steep downslope. The UK variant is fear porn plain and simple
Hope tiis is the first domino to fall on the road to normal.
About 9 months too late. But better late than never I guess.
Similar to rural areas of East Tennessee, although I did get a dirty look from a soy boy at the grocery store yesterday.
Took 12 months but finally common sense prevaled.
As everyone knows, this disease, or whatever it is, only lurks just inside of bars and restaurants, ready to pounce!
Well there won’t be any outdoor dining for a while. Brother just texted -15 this morning in Eastern IA. And cold to last another week or 10 days.
Also learned that Iowa is getting fewer doses of vaccine than most other states. No one can explain why. I heard 47th out of the 50 states.
I already got my first one in FL at Publix over a week ago. 70 YO family member in IA is so anxious to get his but no one but health workers and institutionalized are getting them yet.
