Prosecutors said a man in Pennsylvania shot and killed a couple in a murder-suicide over a snow removal dispute on Monday, the same day a major winter storm dumped more than 30 inches of snow in parts of the Northeast.
Jeffrey Spaide fatally shot his neighbors, James Goy and his wife, Lisa Goy, before killing himself on Monday morning when officers were called to West Bergh Street in Plains Township, about 15 miles southwest of Scranton, according to the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office.

(B) DID the couple shovel their snow at his yard? Wouldn’t justify the killing, just curious if it was an honest mistake (nobody did anything) or a provoked attack (so what, man) even once the firearm was brought into the argument. They say that an armed society is a polite society.

After the Ebola outbreak in 2013, I was watching a news story about it. There was a young child, probably 3-4 years old whose entire family had been wiped out by the disease, and the child had also been infected. He was isolated in a hospital ward, and was simply being kept there to die. I literally wept thinking how this little child was condemned to a horrible, painful death, having no comprehension of what was happening to him, and the worst part of it was that during that decline he would have no human contact, nobody to hold him, nobody to hug and nobody to comfort him.
COVID is not Ebola, but we have voluntarily been denying ourselves those simple human interactions - hugs, handshakes, backslaps. By limiting our personal contact with others, we ourselves limit the definition of what it means to be human.
