Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) voted in favor of a resolution declaring the impeachment trial of former President Trump “unconstitutional” on Tuesday.
* * *
However, only five Republicans voted against the resolution: Mitt Romney of Utah, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania. At the close of the impeachment trial itself, at least 17 Republican senators would need to join Democrats in order to convict Trump.

Of course impeachment of a private citizen is unconstitutional. The language is very plain. That is probably why Roberts refused to preside.
How do you know what any of them really think? Politician is ‘many faces’ like an actor. I think Mitch is one of the best ‘actors’. I am certain he despises former President Trump but at the same time may have been goading the Dems to overplay their hand.
Why don’t we just get 5 former senators who support our former President.
2/3 of the Senators PRESENT would be mighty easy for the. Dems to reach if Republicans did not participate.
Trump carried Utah and Nebraska in 2020 with 58% of the vote in each while winning Alaska with 53%. I hope such levels of support prompt Senate primaries in each state.
Coastal Maine gave Joseph the Usurper the edge in that state, and the GOP “leadership” in Pennsylvania is, to use one of The Donald’s favorite words, a disaster.
I never know what to think of McConnell. I thought he was good in resisting pressure to hold the Supreme Court vacancy open after Justice Scalia died.
I thought he did a decent job in getting Trump’s judicial nominees confirmed.
I admit I don’t have an up to date scoreboard of all of his blunders.
So!
Mister Turtle woke up just in time and smelled the coffee.
I don’t know why the Uniparty wants to give Trump the floor to present his evidence on vote fraud as a defense for why the rally was held in the first place. It will end up in the Congressional record.
Mitch probably thinks this vote will be enough to save his pathetic arse.
I don’t think so.
The Senate vote means nothing in terms of what is Constitutional and what is not. It’s up to the courts to decide that, and I suspect they will have a chance to do that before any impeachment trial starts.
Keep calling these creeps, everyone of them. Mitch China McConnell number one call target. Primary every single GOP member in house and senate that refused to reject the Arizona electors ( massive fraud). Biden is not simply illegitimate, he is a long time felon,- Ukraine/China payoffs, participant in election fraud, likely pedo protector ( Hunter) and likely a sexual assaulter himself.
Unfortunately, if they don’t show up for the vote and at least 1 RINO does, they have quorum and enough votes to convict and bar Trump from running again.
I don’t hate school.
It’s just the vice-principal of the thing.

Oh what happened, Chinese Mitch? Get some bad PR recently? Rethinking your thinking or just taking orders?
Screw you, CHYna Turtle.
I’d rather join Trump’s 3rd party and lose with dignity than keep voting for the execrable RINOs like you. We lose anyway with turds like you. Every time.
Since the Media-Dem Party is in the impeaching mood, they should impeach 0bama for all the riots he instigated and the murder of several cops due to his support for Black Lies Matter.
So much for all the fake news about McConnell in the last week..
Not yet, but we're working on it. Only when we #WalkAway from the GOP will they get a clear message.
All Romney wants is face time on TV.
The video of Pierre Delecto being read the riot act at an airport recently was heartwarming.
Smarmy Romney’s failure to acknowledge the absurdity of impeaching a former President is unforgivable. He’s failing to show any leadership towards party unity. Closet demtard...
certainly others but Mitch was just re-elected and at his age I doubt that he plans on running again.
