Incoming Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has suggested taxing Americans for the number of miles they drive, a policy he endorsed as a Democratic presidential candidate.

The Biden Administration is actively searching for ways to fund its ambitious $1 trillion infrastructure plan.

One more way to track and monitor you. They will do it under a variety of pretexts which appear harmless. It will be done incrementally. Then in the final stage, they will drop a truck load of measures all at once to complete their mission.

Nonsense. What the communists really want is to ban private transportation completely.

Sure would be a shame if the truckers decided to shut down for, oh say, about a month.

No. Because they have expense accounts or get “per diem” or a “company” credit . Buttigig probably hasn’t paid for a damn thing out of his pocket for 20 years.

How do they propose to measure mileage use per year? GPS trackers in all license plates?

"it should be considered as a potential replacement for the gas tax."

Replacement!!! HA!

Double HA! even.

Clearly, it will be on top of the Federal gas tax, the Federal Excise tax on tires, and road tolls.

More than a shame. Think of the damage that would do to small businesses across the spectrum. I think a better idea would be something like a rolling roadblock through DC. Maybe every morning for a couple of weeks while both houses are in session.

In general, the richer you are, the closer you can afford to live to where you work. But most of us moved pretty far away from the desirable close in places so we could have a house big enough for a family. So, the poor will suffer.

As for replacing gas taxes...really, there are federal, state, county and city gas taxes. Are they going to replace them all?

Incidentally, liberals wanted everybody to drive electric cars. Where this has happened, the tax revenue has proportionately dropped. The liberals are shocked.

There probably aren’t enough votes in Congress to stop any of the Biden handlers madness.
