The Biden administration wants to root out and eliminate what it believes to be an offensive word from every federal law.
The immigration bill President Joe Biden is sending Congress aims to appease progressives and illegal immigrants who want to be called something more pleasing to the ear than the current federal definition.
The word “alien” has peppered laws concerning those who are not American citizens since the 1798 Alien and Sedition Act.
“The bill further recognizes America as a nation of immigrants by changing the word ‘alien’ to ‘noncitizen’ in our immigration laws,” a Biden transition team news release stated.
One advocate for illegal immigrants is thrilled according to CNN, which noted “the symbolic significance is huge.”
“The language change on the first day of this administration, with Kamala Harris the daughter of immigrants, to me it’s not just symbolic … it’s foundational,” said Jose Antonio Vargas, an illegal immigrant himself who runs an organization called Define American.
“How we describe people really sticks. It affects how we treat them,” he said. “How we talk about immigrants shapes the policies. It frames what are the issues really at stake here. It acknowledges that we’re talking about human beings and families.”
Former President Donald Trump used the word “alien” earlier this month when talking about border policies during a visit to Texas, according to a transcript of his remarks.
“[A]liens released at the border remain at large in the country and do not return home. They won’t go home. And you rarely find them. It’s very tough to find them. So we have aliens released in our country, many of whom are serious criminals. And we’ve stopped that. Don’t ever start that process again,” Trump said at the time.

It was only in subsequent decades that the term "alien" acquired any connotation of "extra-terrestrial." And even now, in the context of immigration and border control, it is absurd to think that anyone could possibly have unpleasant associations with "Bug-Eyed Monsters" - unless they were actively looking to be offended.
The Leftists want to "update" our Constitution and our laws every few months to reflect "changing perceptions" and "evolving sensibilities."
Mark my words: In a scant few years, Leftists will be decrying the term "non-citizen" because of its "unpleasant" and "dehumanizing" associations! And they'll be calling for the substitution of some new-fangled verbal monstrosity like "Dreamer" or "co-citizen" to remedy it!
Their goal is to treat our language (which is the basis for rational thought) as some fluid phenomenon in need of "refreshing" every five minutes.
We've already gotten to the point here in Germany where the "P.C." term for "aliens" is "ausländische Mitbürger!" In fact, the "ausländisch" part is frequently omitted: Politicians routinely give speeches beginning with "Liebe Mitbürger und Mitbürgerinnen!"

I bet Biden is taking care of this so when he releases the news about aliens from space there won’t be any confusion. And then he takes off his mask!
They always go for the language first but we never bother to be in that battle, we say the words they tell us we have to say, shun the words they tell us to because we are polite and think it is not the hill to die on. This makes us their sock puppets to some extent. We need to intensely engage in the word war and say Oriental if we want to and use baby murderers instead of pro choicers, stuff like that. It may feel weird and awkward at first, but it will get easier. Note how easy the F word rolls off the tongue these days even of gentile grammas. We have to stop letting them either entirely silence us and/or stop using their preferred words when they “allow” us to speak. We are on the verge of losing words like “mother”. This battle must be engaged. Offend back, reclaim your language rights.
