Vice President Mike Pence and the top two Republicans in Congress, soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, plan to skip President Donald Trump's departure ceremony on Wednesday morning.
Trump, bucking tradition, will depart from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland for his home in Florida at 8 a.m. ET without meeting with President-elect Joe Biden or attending his inauguration ceremony later in the day.
In most previous years, the outgoing president has met with the incoming president and first lady at the White House. After attending their successors' inauguration ceremonies, former presidents often depart from the Capitol in a military helicopter to head to Joint Base Andrews to fly off to begin their post-presidential life.
Axios reported on Tuesday that McConnell and McCarthy will attend a morning mass service scheduled to start at 8:45 a.m. with Biden at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostate in Washington, DC, down the street from the White House.

And it certainly is appropriate with an analogy to religious disputes. For four years some of us have thought that these guys differed on some points of doctrine. Now, they and many other Republicans, especially in the state legislatures, have shown that they were full apostate, and have abandoned us altogether.

McConnell, I would expect that level of nasty behavior, McCarthy, everyone knows he’s a ‘go along to get along’ follower type, but VP Michael Richard Pence, totally ignoring his old boss at the Goodbye ceremony? Really?
That has to hurt from Trump’s point of view.
Maybe it’s logistics. Pence cannot be in both places at once.
Who says that the New Reich will even honor any pardons that Trump will issue?
They are going to erase him, so they will likely erase any of his acts as well.

Pence is to Trump as Bush was to Reagan. When Trump needed Pence most he was always been AWOL. This par for course for Bare Minimum Mike.
His relationship with Pence was all fake, because Pence is fake. When the Billy Bush Pussygate tape hit, he conspired with Priebus and Ryan to depose Trump as candidate and to move to the top of the ticket.
When Trump hit back with all of Clinton’s rape victims on the front row of the next debate, that plot ended.
After he won, he immediately plotted with the FBI and Sally Yates to get Flynn fired and put McMaster in.
