Three samples of locally made ice cream that used milk powder from Ukraine and whey mist from New Zealand — under the Daqiaodao brand, tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday in Tianjin.
The city has launched a campaign to close down cold storage houses related to the ice cream since then. The company said it had produced 4,836 boxes, and 1,812 had been sold to various provinces.

Each box contains six ice cream products, each of which having a net weight of 450 grams. Most of the 935 boxes entering the local market have not sold out, it said.
Tianjin is now examining a total of 65 boxes that had been sold in the local market. On Thursday evening, it asked residents who bought the popular treat to report their health and physical movements.
The city has notified the market regulation authorities in the provinces where the ice cream was sent so it can be traced.
Did they investigate the possibility that something in the food product was causing a false positive before hysterically shutting everything down?

I don’t think taste matters much if the “ice cream” was made with “milk powder from Ukraine and whey mist from New Zealand”.
You see this is how top-down centrally planned e.g. marxist governments work: a few hundred out of hundreds of millions get sick on lettuce, the govt steps in and millions of pounds of produce are destroyed, and it’s subsequently found out that a group of illegals crapping in a field caused it all. I have a few questions.
I thought China wiped out Covid. How bad is it really when they’re using tests on food products? Also, why are they testing ice cream for Covid. Also, how does a virus, which to the best of my knowledge does not eat ice cream, get contaminated with covid.
Also, this is going to be my new excuse when I don’t want to share my food with the kids. I think they’re getting suspicious that my milkshakes aren’t actually “too spicy” for them.

Note that they barely mentioned that the ice-cream itself was made in China, focusing instead on the detail that two of the many ingredients came from barbarian countries...
