“I now have cracked glass lungs.”

Two years ago my wife had a covid type illness. Even Cleveland Clinic could not say what she had. She thinks she had an early form of it.

She was super fit and healthy 57 year old who ate right and never smoked

Her lung function has never got back to normal. We would go on 4-5 mile hikes in the woods. No longer. She walks at most 1/2 -3/4 mile.

She has to bring out a nebulizer on occassions.

These covid deniers disgust me.

“Might want to tell that to the wife of the 56 year old doctor who got ITP from the vax and died.”

No vaccine is 100% safe. People die from taking regular presciptions drugs. It’s called side effects.

Very good point. What children are growing up in right now is not healthy for them physically or mentally. What we are imprinting on children is very dysfunctional. We are going to create yet another generation of unhealthy neurotics.

Life expectancy is mainly affected by the death of the young.

Thank you for your common sense evaluation that shows without a doubt that these “studies” are nothing more than propaganda to keep the pearl clutchers alarmed. Why do they continue to try and keep the public alarmed. The flu season is being exploited to keep people from noticing or caring about the massive theft of an election. We keep hearing that Biden got 81 million votes campaigning from his basement, 25% more than the 65 million that Obama got in 2012. And Biden still can't draw a crowd whether on the computer, television or real life. It is ridiculous!

If they do not keep ratcheting up the fear on Coronavirus people might start to notice. And it does work... look at the number of fearful people we have here on Free Republic. They cling to the faked numbers and statistics like their lives depend on them. Do any of them notice that the numbers show that flu has some how been eradicated this year?

I have two close friends that came down with pneumonia this year, they were both people who were so fearful of Covid that they wore masks while driving alone, walking outside and in their own homes. Despite being put on ventilators, both were so relieved when their Covid tests came back negative. One of them died and the other has permanent lung damage, “glass lungs” from being on a ventilator. Heavy duty oxygen therapy using ventilators has a terrible consequence it often destroys the lungs of those who are being “saved”. This has been known for decades.

The doctors basically had to wrestle the masks away from our friend who survived as soon as she was taken off the ventilator. She was told that they were puting her recovery at risk and were likely partially responsible for her illness from the flu progressing to pneumnia. But the mask NAZI propoganda had convinced her so thoroughly that the masks were "saving" her that she wanted to dump her doctors instead of giving up the masks.

I thought the American life expectancy was already in decline before COVID due to obesity and opioid abuse.

Mostly idiot drivers and feral gang members.

In case you missed it, I’m an ER nurse in a city full of Covid so I have about 100x more experience with and knowledge of Covid than you do. These people you are claiming died “with” Covid are dying because they got Covid. But I’m sure you can find anecdotal evidence to support whatever cockamamie conspiracy theory the internet put in your head but I assure you, Covid is killing Americans and the numbers are very close to reality. 390,000 Americans are dead and you are acting like its a chest cold because you don’t know **** about Covid and I don’t care if you did have it. That is anecdotal evidence and ridiculously false logic. “It didn’t kill me so it isn’t killing anyone”? Give me a break. Lots of people have had it and lots of people had more than a “weird chest cold” from it.

It’s just so hard to imagine that in the course of administering a million doses of a drug a day, a few people have adverse drug reactions. My eyes are rolling so hard it hurts.

I've read it. You should read it yourself. The CDC is the least up to date source btw. and if a mugger mugs an old man and causes him to go into cardiac arrest and he dies from that, there isn't a judge and jury in this country that would conclude that the mugger wasn't responsible for the man's death. same with Covid. if you get Covid and it leads to a fatal secondary pneumonia, or a heart attack, or stroke, or kidney failure, or disseminated intravascular coagulation, or pulmonary embolism, or even because of a medical error of some kind, you died because of Covid AFAIC.

Let's say it kills 0.1% of the population. If it killed people averaging 60 years old that would reduce average lifespan by about .02 years. Where does the remaining 1.11 years come from?

No, sorry, that is a far too simplistic view. The actual math is quite different.

Then how would it be 55x worse than my back of the envelope estimate? Even if COVID killed infants rather than old people, then a 0.1% death rate would amount to only a 0.1% reduction in average life span or about 0.08 years.

Are there other effects like people putting off cancer diagnostics and treatment? Are some people permanently crippled by COVID and will die early? Yes, certainly for both, but I want numbers other than tossing out a 1.13 year reduction in lifespan without explaining it.

This reminds me of the Fair Tax where my numbers did not come anywhere close to the official ones from proponents. It turned out they had hidden a major assumption in their calculations.

Bear in mind that this is not about the total loss of years of life, but rather about the reduction in average life-span for the duration of the Corona Crisis.

I.e., it is not a permanent reduction in life-expectancy - as might be expected from, e.g., a general, large-scale, and lasting change in smoking rates, obesity rates, etc.

Remember that this "life expectancy" is a mathematical construct. Even if - between January of 2020 and July of 2021 - the virus killed EVERYONE over the age of 80 (or EVERYONE between the ages of 33 and 34), as long as the pandemic petered out in mid-2021, then the average life-expectancy would return to normal in 2022 (or even actually rise because a lot of "deadwood" would have been "cleared out").

Your "calculations" don't take that into account.

“I have about 100x more experience with and knowledge of Covid than you do.”

Wait... I HAD the Covid. Does this mean you’ve had it 100 times??

Get nasty as you wish; I’m not joining in.

Again, NO ONE can tell me Covid is a killer. I HAVE HAD it myself. I HAVE experienced it. You cannot ever change my mind about a virus that I had myself.

Sorry.

“I know a guy that had a heart attack and lived. You can’t tell me that heart attacks kill people. It’s a big conspiracy. And you can’t tell me otherwise because I broke my leg one time and that makes me an orthopedic surgeon. Are you an orthopedic surgeon too? No? Then STFU!” Do you see how ridiculous you sound?

A heart attack is NOT a common cold virus.

Sorry. Try again.

It’s the same logical fallacy-the anecdotal evidence fallacy. Your perspective of this disease is limited by your one single experience. I have seen well over a hundred cases of Covid and I have reviewed the cases of another hundred at least. It does kill people, especially old people. I have seen it and I have seen it frequently cause severe illness in those that it doesn’t kill, especially old people and I have seen it cause mild illness plenty of times as well, primarily in young people. That you cling to this anecdotal evidence is just foolishness. I could explain the phenomena of thymic involution and immunosenescence to you but you have had Covid so you certainly understand these things already since you’re a medical professional now.

If one introduces a common cold into a nursing home.. a common cold - won’t there be a good chance of fatalities? That why common sense tells us that if you’re sick, stay away from nursing homes and hospitals and folks going thru cancer treatments, etc...

The point is, we don’t shut down society for a simple virus. Not unless people are whipped up into a frenzy regarding it.

People die. You, me, - ALL of us die eventually of something. And we ALL get sick along the way. This is a part of life.

What’s being done is the manipulation of the population by over-exaggeration of a virus. It’s a power grab. If we do not call it out, we become slaves in the end.

How did we survive Ebola, H1N1 and the rest of those deadly diseases that have swept our world every year - right on time? We never shut down... We survived.

A good chance? No. a minute chance? Yeah. I thought you understood immunosenescence and thymic involution since you've had Covid and all. Older people are actually well equipped to fight off common pathogens that they have come into contact with multiple times throughout their lives. It's the "novel" pathogens that cause them problems-like the novel coronavirus.

How did we survive Ebola, H1N1 and the rest of those deadly diseases that have swept our world every year

Covid is deadlier than Ebola or H1N1. It's pathogenicity is defined by its high transmissibility through the herd host as opposed to its lethality to the individual host. It kills a smaller percentage of the time but it just reaches more susceptible hosts so it's a smaller percentage of a much larger total number of infected hosts. That's why it has killed 390,000 people and Ebola has never even really gotten a foothold in America.

People die. You, me, - ALL of us die eventually of something.

390,000 people have died of this virus. Countless hundreds of thousands have been hospitalized. Many of those hospitalized patients have spent weeks in the ICU fighting for their lives. Your casual dismissal of their deaths and suffering is an affront to humanity. I'm glad your voice carries no weight in Washington D.C. frankly but it's a shame you cost the rest of us so much with your callousness and stupidity.

I won’t tell you what your experience was; I will tell you mine.

In February 2020 my lungs were clear.

By April 2020 my lungs were FUBAR. Pulmonologist confirmed cracked glass lungs.

By August, I was considered Stage 3 COPD aka emphysema due to the damage COVID did. I have an 80% chance of surviving the next 4 years.

Glad you had nothing more than a cold.

It is not the same for others. I now know of 3 people that lost family members from COVID.

Go ahead, tell me how I’m clinging to my “fear” while I’m taking a pharmacy of meds just to get through the day so I can support a family of 5.

The lockdowns didn’t help. The masks didn’t help. I’m considered essential and wore one every day: still got this crap. I understand your frustration and am disgusted by the tyrannical overreach.

But it is just plain ignorant to presume that COVID can’t jack people up. It has, by the tens of thousands.
