“I can tell you that at the first G20 meeting we have, I am going to make a proposal on this issue,” López Obrador told the AP. “Yes, social media should not be used to incite violence and all that, but this cannot be used as a pretext to suspend freedom of expression.”
He added, “How can a company act as if it was all powerful, omnipotent, as a sort of Spanish Inquisition on what is expressed?”
Mexico’s Foreign Relations Secretary, Marcelo Ebrard, said the country has already started to speak to likely allies in this new quest to end big tech censorship at the international level.

“Given that Mexico, through our president, has spoken out, we immediately made contact with others who think the same,” Ebrard said, according to the AP. Ebrard claims the country has already received responses from officials in France, Germany, the European Union, Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia.
This comes only hours after Project Veritas released a video recorded by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, sent to them by a whistleblower. In the video, Dorsey indicates that banning President Trump’s account is only the first step, and that further purges will see far more accounts banned. Dorsey also said the purges will not end after Joe Biden’s inauguration.
“I don’t think this is going away anytime soon, and the moves that we’re making today around uh Qanon for instance, one such example of a much broader approach that we should be looking at and going deeper on,” said Dorsey. He adds, “our role is to protect the integrity of that conversation, and do what we can to make sure that no one is being harmed based off that.”
When Mexico is leading USA on censorship we have fallen far, far down
Good for him for standing up to the Big Tech Hitlers. Things will be so bad under Illegitimate Biden there might be a human caravan heading into Mexico from the north.
That wall is going to keep all the Americans who value Freedom out of Mexico. The left is going to make it a Berlin Wall.
Mexico’s President has actually stood with Donald Trump in challenging the Democrats’ corruption this election and now the influence and outright censorship by Big BOTHER/Big Tech.
“From San Diego on the Pacific to Brownsville on the Gulf of Mexico, a silicon curtain has descended across the Continent.”
Winston Churchill, updated.
Its a national security issue. Many countries promote their own “national champions” in social-media, because otherwise, you are giving Silicon Valley control over the most modern and powerful propoganda network. Its been used to deadly effect in the “color revolutions” in Georgia and Ukraine and also the Arab-spring.
Many nations are tired of the US Deep State’s schemes, and now with Big Tech revealing themselves as puppets in these schemes - the world has the pretext they need to cut them off at the knees.
When the Mexican Presdent is concerned of the implications of free speech and big tech censoring it than the left in the US who is celebrating it, you know you have a problem.
And he’s a socialist to boot!
I wasn’t expecting that.
Nice!
He delayed recognition of Beijing Biden as the next POTUS
He is protecting his own tail.
He is socialist himself so you can not trust him .
“And he’s a socialist to boot!”
Exactly . He is protecting his own tail . He can’t be trusted .
Yes, he did. It’s so interesting that Mexico’s president and several other world leaders (including Angela Merkel, for crying out loud) are treating President Trump with a degree of fairness that is completely absent in our own Democrat-Media-Complex-run country.
Well, well, well. Looks like Pres. Obrador is beginning to see that Pres. Trump was right on a lot of issues. Hope he does unite what part of Latin American that is not socialist/Marxists, into a powerful coalition against Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Apple and related electronic dictatorships.
I wonder if they can legally ban those operations in their country unless they reform and stop the censorship.
Also, watch Brazil. The leader is a no-nonsense conservative who doesn’t mind taking out his countries enemies, politically and possibly otherwise.
>>I wonder if they can legally ban those operations in their country unless they reform and stop the censorship.
Look to Uganda.
And Donald Trump tried to ban ChiComSpyAppTikTok and look at the blowback he got from popstar nurses and that-ho-on-twitter(THOTs).
I considered that possibility, that other countries might see this as a (legitimate) pretext for dismantling the US (and incidentally leftist, though that might not be such an issue) monopoly on social media. I’m interested to see how the Eastern European bloc reacts.
TRUMP HAS MANY OF THE WORLDS LEADERS SPEAKING OUT AGAINST
THE BIG TECH CENSORS.
AUSTRAILIA, GERMANY, INDIA , MEXICO ARE JUST A FEW WHO
SEE THIS AS POLITICAL INTERFERENCE.
MEANWHILE CCP POSTS ARE LEFT UP AND THE WORLD SEES THE DOUBLE STANDARD.
