TEXIT: Texas Lawmaker Wants Referendum on Secession on the Ballot; In the shadow of an out-of-control federal government there is growing support for State of Texas to consider secession from the USA

The Texit effort is slated for a major boost this week with the introduction of a bill in the Texas State Legislature that would put the question of secession into a referendum form to voters on the November 2021 ballot.

The notion of secession is increasingly being discussed across the country in the wake of what many believe was a gerrymandered election and a complete failure and abdication of the judicial system to affect justice for the American people.

Additionally, a vast majority of people are aghast that the federal government is doing nothing to secure their First Amendment rights to free speech, freedom to redress government, and freedom of association in the face of draconian censorship by Big Tech companies whose products have become ipso facto utilities in the modern age.

America is coming apart at the seams. We don’t want to admit it but it’s true. Eventually we will have to talk seriously about secession and national divorce. I’ve been saying it for years. Maybe the time has finally come.

— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) January 7, 2021

But in the State of Texas, talk has turned to action.

Texas State Rep. Kyle Biedermann (R), a conservative and former hardware store owner and gun dealer, says he will introduce a bill that would place a referendum on secession on the November ballot as early as this week.

Without revealing any specifics, the referendum would query whether Texas should assert its independence from the United States.

“The federal government is out of control and does not represent the values of Texans,” Biedermann wrote in emailed comments. “My office has been flooded with support from not only Texans, but like minded patriots across the country.”

If his bill advances out of committee debates and hearings, it would be put to a vote before the 150 State Representatives and 31 State Senators.

In Texas, the Legislature convenes at noon on the second Tuesday of January in odd-numbered years for no more than 140 days, thus avoiding the spendthrift policies of the federal government.

Biedermann is not alone in his want to seriously discuss a practical and legitimate way forward in the face of a transformative effort away from the US Constitution and the rule of law in Washington, DC.

Allen West, chairman of the Texas State Republican Party, floated a form of the idea after a Texas-led lawsuit aimed at holding five battleground states to their own constitutions with respect to election law was dismissed by the US Supreme Court.

“Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution,” West said in a statement immediately after the High Court Ruling.

The Texas GOP had a fit after the Supreme Court rejected their bid to flip the election in Trump's favor, and now they're hinting at secession https://t.co/DmoKBImblN

And Rush Limbaugh discussed the idea as well, saying “I never would advocate for secession…I’m simply repeating what I have heard,” but, he said, “a sizable and growing sentiment” for secession is percolating amongst the citizenry from coast to coast following the election results.

Is Limbaugh correct?https://t.co/7yyfaj9FzI

There has been buzz about secession across the State of Florida as well, with many citizens calling on Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), to entertain the idea.

I totally agree, sir. I am a 6th gen Texan. My first relative showed up in the late 1850’s. But the fact remains, increasingly the population is not from here, does not have the values of heritage Texans and is rapidly becoming the majority. The window is very small, if it isn’t already closed.

Texas should be governed by Texans and Texans alone. We should not have our political destiny determined by California, New York, or any other state.

God bless you and may God bless the Republic of Texas.

I do not care? I care about men who fought with me. Many died and more were wounded. They never ask about their income. They worry about this USA. We fought for it just like men before us did,

And is that new military larger and more capable than the force that will come to pull them back into the union?

I saw something recently debunking the idea that Texas has a ‘get out of the union’ clause. Instead it can split itself into a few (5?) states. That could be an interesting counter to PR & DC statehood.

You are correct about the fraudulent voting system.

I think that there has to be good legal minds that can resolve that problem by putting a few people in prison for what they did in the 2020 election. Lose a case or two here, win one there until an example is made of a few prominent people.

It needs to be done promptly before our courts become “made in China”..

> If this succeeds, the question is will other states follow?

If one goes, others will follow - that’s a certainty. Other candidates would be Florida, much of the deep south, and Alaska.

So yea, if this movement starts picking up steam, expect Biden (walking fustercluck that he is) to respond in such a manner as to turn public support against fedgov.

Forming a third party rather than leaving the union would resolve all of the problems and questions regarding SS, national defense, borders, etc.

How does a 3rd party resolve problems regarding SS, national defense, borders, etc?

exactly right. the Indians have absolutely swarmed Austin (and parts of DFW and Houston) have massive entire neighborhoods 100% to themselves and are the most hateful, anti-white, anti-american supremacists a$$holes I’ve had the displeasure of dealing with. My wife and I were having this very conversation this morning over coffee. It’s a huge mistake letting these people into the country.

Pssst... those systems will collapse before most of us are old enough to use them.

> I am not a Texan, but as a very interested observer I suggest that the best way to keep them in the nation is to create a third party with the goal of recruiting all of the repub conservatives, many of which would be Texans.

LOL, wat?

A very stupid idea.

They would be crushed!
- They don’t control the major cities.
- They are only marginally Republican.
- The full weight if the U.S. would be brought down upon their heads.

I have no hostility, but I see it as very impractical.

I know TX is oil rich but remember that it will cost as much to defend one state as it will to defend a nation.

Jet fighters today cost from 150 million to 250 million each.

How many would you like to order, sir?

Tanks, subs, destroyers plus all of the support equipment......

And how much does a pile of nuclear munitions cost?

I doubt that the Biden administration or any that follow would grant foreign aid or grants.

And there is that long wall.

Maybe Texas can pony up the money with ease, but it would need to be done over night or be exposed for the length of time required.

Besides, even we who are not Texans are proud of Texas and would hate to see you go.

Exactly. Texas is also one of those smart states that has never had a personal income tax. For Freedom, Texans would gladly switch to paying Texas income taxes that stays 100% in Texas.

Federal money isn’t freebies. States are either net contributors, break even, or net beneficiaries. The federal govt just collects it all, then corrupt politicians, govt workers and lobbyists skim off their percentages, then they redistribute it. I believe Texas is break even on federal contributions sent versus federal money received, so Texas can do without the federal govt.

I’m sorry. The proper millenial terminology is “net payer or net taker” so that AOC and her ilk can understand. Map at link for 2016 showing Texas is the most break even state but is a net payer, eg Texas pays more dollars to the federal govt than Texas receives back from the federal govt. New Mexico is the biggest net taker, getting back $2.57 for every $1.00 paid into the federal govt.

https://www.moneytips.com/is-your-state-a-net-payer-or-a-net-taker/356

Texas is a Go. Ted Cruz for President.

If Biden goes through with what he said he would do with guns then this subject will take on a new meaning. The Dems seem very emboldened and some what out of their minds.

If Texas secedes, so do all neighboring states in short order. The capital flight from other states will be massive. The new nation will be buried in wealth in a matter of weeks.
