Parler finds refuge with right-leaning webhosting service
The Washington Times ^ | 01/11/21 | Nihal Krishan

A handful of Big Tech companies moved to take down social media platform Parler over the weekend, but it appears to have found a new company to help try to keep its website running.

On Monday, Parler registered its domain and server to be hosted by Epik, an internet webhosting company known for working with right-leaning websites. Gab, another social media platform popular with conservatives, also uses Epik. A web domain search shows that Parler is now registered with Epik.

From Wikipedia: Politics

Monster’s political beliefs have been described by HuffPost as “at times ... almost indistinguishable from those of the neo-Nazis he’s defended on Gab.”[2] In December 2018, he shared on Gab a video created by Canadian white nationalist Faith Goldy, in which she described migrants as bringing “rape epidemics, sharia law, and the spectacle of terror.”[2] In January 2019, Monster appeared as a guest on “The People’s Square”, a podcast hosted by pseudonymous white nationalist Eric Striker. He was criticized by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for appearing on the show and for comments he made about white supremacist and former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan David Duke, including “He’s actually a pretty clever guy, he’s articulate. He knows history. And I don’t know the body of his work, but have a feeling that many people grew up with this mindset that you shouldn’t listen to anything David Duke says.” Monster later told the SPLC in an interview that he did not know who Striker was when he agreed to speak with him, and that he “disagrees with Duke’s racist worldview but respects his intelligence”.[6]

Monster has been accused of antisemitism because of some of his writings on Gab, where he has said “Are there a lot of ‘Jewish’ people who are in a position of power or influence and favor other ‘Jewish’ people, Ashkenazi, or otherwise? Sure. Do I think God is impressed by that? No, I do not.... God will deal with them and in His time and His way regardless of hoaxes and conspiracies along the way.” He has replied to a user who referred to him using the antisemitic slur “rat kike” to say he was “not a ‘kike’ nor governed by one. :-)”, and reassured a person who expressed disapproval that two members of Epik’s board were Jewish that “having a Jewish person on Epik’s board may be somewhat helping with keeping certain forces at bay.” He has also suggested that the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting was a “false flag” attack.[2] In a comment on an Epik blog post explaining why the registrar accepted Gab’s business, he wrote “I have many Jewish friends, and have been called ‘Mensch’ many times”.[2]

He has promoted several other conspiracy theories, including that the death of an American missionary who had traveled to North Sentinel Island was a “psyop” intended to discourage Christians from doing missionary work.[2]

Monster was widely condemned in the wake of the Christchurch mosque shootings for uploading video of the shootings to Twitter and Gab. He posted on Gab that he had uploaded the file to the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), and wrote that Epik was working on a tool to make it simpler for people to create IPFS files, describing IPFS as “crazy clever technology” that makes files “effectively uncensorable”.[11][16] He also shared the link to the video on Twitter after Twitter announced it would be removing any video of the incident. His tweet was removed by Twitter after several hours.[17]

I’m not anti- border, I’m pointing out that youre obsessing about borders when I’m talking about libertarianism. Libertarians have no problem with borders, at least not the ones with above room temp IQs.

“In the long run this will make us all stronger. Being independent of hive mind liberal companies for internet and banking makes us powerful.”

I agree. We really don’t have any choice. We have to be independent in order to survive.

The overloading of Epik’s servers will generate windfall revenue and inspire expansion. I hear some AWS servers will soon be underutilized and likely to be available for pennies on the dollar.

Can even Elon Musk can throw together a large data center and have it running well in a few days?

I also don't know that Musk is presently a competitor to Facebook & Twitter -- I just think he doesn't like Zuckerberg, etc. It seems Musk genuinely sees them as a threat to freedom, and despite some other whacky views*, it appears Musk IS big on freedom, and the USA as a powerful force for good.

Now, that said, once Starlink is up and running on a large scale, Musk can rip large chunks of flesh right out of some of these people, esp. if he plays it well.

*Often I wonder how much of that is just Musk playing people, gov't entities, etc., for his own, not always stated objectives. I am not sure we know his ULTIMATE objectives. THAT might make for a very interesting Speculative Fiction novel.

(If I suddenly disappear, that means I'm on to something. The question then might be: Did the bad guys get me? Or the good guys?) ;-)

I certainly hope so, I didn’t want to have to deal with Gab. However something is off here for me. Parlor CEO was on Tucker at 8pm tonight and gave no indication that the site would be back up soon. In fact, he didn’t sound too optimistic at all. Here is the segment via YouTube.

Donald Trump - the most underappreciated President in history.

Well, not generally by about 70 million people. ;-)

How come there aren’t any conservatives in big tech?

In the wake of what’s happened recently it would seem like a golden opportunity to start server farms and apps.

There’s got to be a few conservative billionaires...

That has nothing to so with Epic. Gab owns there own servers and they are not yet built up for the tasks at hand.

“The definitive list of liberal, progressive and/or anti-Trump, agenda driven companies that you should boycott”

You can’t boycott all those companies. (I’m not saying that they don’t deserve, it’s just that it would be too diluted and ineffective)

Instead we should follow Alinsky rule #12...

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

Pick the worst and most vulnerable company, focus all your efforts there (and I don’t mean just boycott but protest in front of their establishments, and where the CEO lives, make his life hell - in other words we have to become relentless activists like we were during the Tea Party days). After you bankrupt that company pick your next target. And be prepared to be confrontated by Antifa/BLM). One more word of caution, the cops are not going to be on your side.

The big question is - do we have that in us?

The other thing to keep in mind is Stalin’s admonition that “capitalists will sell him to rope to hang them with”. What this means is this. Use your enemy’s product and services to hang him with. This implies a “smart and selective boycott”. If you can use something they sell to advance your agenda, or destroy them, use them.
