Yup. They told us that if we didn't like the censorship of twatter/facebook/whatever, that we should build our own platforms, so someone did exactly that. Now we see that big tech is unable to abide any competition that might threaten their control of the narrative.

The only way around this is to have your own datacenter(s), and I'm not even sure at this point that this will be enough, as I'm sure they' simply move to cutting your internet connections.

Parler is probably going to have to go to some type of subscription service. I'd probably be willing to go for $20/year or something like that, and if millions of folks did so, they'd probably be able to stay in business. It's either that, or sell the information related to its users in the creepy way that FB/TW/Google/Amazon do.

Personally, I'd rather pay than be the product to be sold, which is the case on other platforms.

Parler is dead, especially after if the so-called claimed 70 GB data hack is true.

Amazon Zucked an entire social media site at midnight because it was pro-Trump.
Welcome to Biden’s America, where free speech is celebrated.
Just not for you.

My concern is that we could see pressure on ICANN to start shutting down conservative domains, period.

The only competition to Twitter as of now that’s up, is GAB.

Gab’s advantage is they have their own servers and do not depend on the services of big tech like Amazon, Google or Microsoft.

And THAT is Parler’s problem now. They depend on Amazon’s cloud service to host their data, and Amazon has given them notice that because Parler is not going to ban Trump and his supporters, their hosting agreement will be canceled this week.

The problem with Gab now is the sudden surge of users trying to get to their site. They are hungry for alternative information not force fed by mainstream propaganda. Gab is scrambling to add more servers because of this. You will expect their site response to be very slow.

Gab is of course being tarred and feathered by the mainstream media as a platform for the extreme right. They want no opinions heard except their own approved one.

Orwell saw this day but was about 40 years too early.

We’re the Liberty1775 Team and we’re a small team of engineers who will be launching a new self hosted free speech platform in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for updates!

I now have a massive version ready, if you want it.

I'd take a link to that. :-)

In addition to an incredible amount of people signing up I expect the Chinese have organized a denial of service attack.

Gab does have a lot of undesirable types. I suspect some are false flag paid trolls. I simply block them.

My family is all gone. I was the baby of the family, born in 1947. I have my two sons, and my sister-in-law (my brother's widow), who I recently discovered, voted for Biden because she "didn't like the way Trump talked to people." Those are her exact words. I never would have known she leaned Democrat until she told me she voted for Biden. I live about 2 1/2 hours from her. My brother, and sister-in-law adopted twin boys, then 15 years into the marriage, she got pregnant and had a daughter, my niece. The twin boys they adopted had learning disabilities, are at least 50, and still live at home. They both work at a manufacturing company not far from where they work. They've always worked, made their own money, and pay for their own cars, insurance, etc., but I know they probably voted for Biden too. I'm sure they watch network news, and whenever politics have come up, they spouted things they've heard the fake news report

My niece and her husband, on the other hand, are Conservative. They have four kids. Two boys and twin girls. Thank God they are normal. I live alone, and visit them occasionally, or they will come here, and stay at the hotel down the road because my apartment won't hold them. I cook for them, which is something I enjoy, and rarely get to do, except on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Well, at least my oldest son doesn't come here and lecture me about what I watch or listen to. I really don't know what his political beliefs are. He's never spoken of them. I just assume he's progressive, because of some of the comments he's said to me when I've brought up politics. He may have voted for Obama. He's never told me who he's voted for.

He's really a good kid, and has never given me a bit of trouble in his 54 years. He was even briefly in the Army after high school, but suffered a stress fracture in his hip, and they discharged him. He got disability for a very short while, but that ended a long time ago. He's never been an aggressive person, so he's not one who wants to pick a fight over politics. He's a tech geek. Has been working from home since March, and in his spare time, he creates mods for the Fallout 4 game, then uploads them for people to download and use in the game. He also live streams a couple times a week. He never married, Had several live-in girlfriends over the years, but after the last one dumped him, he decided he didn't want to waste time catering to someone else's needs. I can't blame him there. He never wanted to marry or have kids, and I told him when he was in high school that the one thing most women want is to get married and have kids, and that if he wasn't willing to do that, that he would be going through a lot of women in his life. He had maybe three live-in girlfriends in all those years. He's actually turned into his mother, because I'm a solitary person, having lived alone for many years myself.

My youngest son on the other hand was a handful. He could have been a lot worse than he was, but he was lazy, no motivation, and lived at home longer than he should have. He'll be 50 next month. About 6 years ago, he moved to Indiana, got a job at Geico, making the most money he ever made in his life, met a girl, and just when things were going great, he was diagnosed with cancerous polyps. Had surgery in early 2019, and six months of chemo that ended November 2019. I was out there for his surgery, and stayed for almost a month. During that time, he and his girlfriend got married. She in her late 30's and neither of them wants kids. He has a very short fuse when it comes to discussing politics, so I'm glad I don't get to see him very often because of him living in another state. Praise God, he has been cancer free for a year now.

My oldest son had a few live-in girlfriends in his life, but when the last one left him because he didn't want marriage or kids, he gave up on relationships. There were too many things he wanted to do, mostly travel, and he didn't want to be tied down, having to cater to someone else's needs. I can understand that. I've been alone for many years now, and am very happy. When he visits me, or I visit him, or we talk on the phone, we never talk politics. I assume he's a progressive because of things he's said in reply to my comments. He normally won't say anything in response, and will just remain silent. He doesn't have cable so never watches network news.

I've been divorced since 1979. My youngest son got married in 2019 when I was out there (Indiana) for his cancer surgery. I live in central NY State. He and his wife don't want children either. I always felt relieved at that decision, because I was afraid that I would have ended up having to raise them. I'm also grateful because I don't have to watch them as parents making the same bad decisions I did when they were little. God has spared me that headache.
