The House this week will take up a resolution to impeach President Donald Trump for the second time in less than two years over his actions encouraging a mob that stormed the Capitol, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.
“In protecting our Constitution and our Democracy, we will act with urgency, because this President represents an imminent threat to both,” Pelosi said in a letter Sunday to House Democrats. “As the days go by, the horror of the ongoing assault on our democracy perpetrated by this President is intensified and so is the immediate need for action.”
Pelosi said Democratic leaders on Monday will request unanimous consent for a separate resolution urging Vice President Mike Pence to convene the cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution “to declare the President incapable of executing the duties of his office.” She said Pence should respond within 24 hours.

I was just thinking about that officer who was allegedly hit in the head with that fire extinguisher, I don't understand why, once the building was breached, and the Capitol Police who let them in knew it was breached, why didn't any of the higher-ups take action to disperse helmets, and whatever else the regular police might need to protect themselves. They have radios, and whoever is in charge of handing out that equipment, should have been contacting the non-Swat cops in order to get a helmet, or other protective gear they might need. They could have sent some of the guys in protective gear around to meet up with the guys who had no gear, and bring it to them. I worked in Corrections, and when the shit went down, there was always a procedure in place to get people relieved to go get what they needed from their locker, or for someone to bring it down to them. It seems nothing was done to provide those officers in the building with protective gear, and with that amount of people merging on the Capitol Building, they should have.
