House Democrats on Friday discussed moving forward with efforts to impeach President Donald Trump a second time, circulating the draft of a single article citing "incitement of insurrection" that they could introduce as early as Monday and hold a full House vote on as early as the middle of next week.
The article charges Trump with "willfully inciting violence against the government of the United States" with his comments at the rally outside the White House that it says "encouraged—and foreseeably resulted in—imminent lawless action at the Capitol."
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held a lengthy conference call with her caucus Friday on how to proceed with just 12 days to go before Trump will leave office.
"The president chose to be an insurrectionist," Pelosi told members at the start, according to a source on the call.
Earlier, she sent a letter saying Democrats should pursue impeachment unless Trump resigned "immediately."

The Senate will not impeach President Trump.
If the senate convicts he would not be eligible to run again. If he finished his term on the 20th he can, hence the urgent need to get it done now.
It's far less than half. A good number of DEM voters don't want this shit. They want their specific issue addressed (abortion, free health care, waived college loans, etc.), but they don't want the whole package of what the DEMs are offering, and certainly not to the extremist measures they are taking. Even the more ardent DEM voters know this could go south on them too.
There is a major disconnect between people elected to DC and the most of the country. There are the rabid followers, and they're a lost cause. But they are far from the majority.
Wanna bet? Just need 14 of the 50 GOP Senators. I could come up with 8-10 real fast.
And Biden will not win last November.
At this point I would not trust my own grandmother, not to impeach Trump. :(

Same here. He is out of office in 11 days, yet they are still terrified of him. If he is so unpopular, inept, etc. why worry at all?
Hey, whatever comes out later, they’ll just impeach Biden for it. Then they get Harris. Far as the Dems are concerned that’s a win.

I think you hit the nail on the head. They want the video of saying Biden won, I lost to play over and over and over. However, I suspect they want him to attend the the inauguration so they can have some protesters boo him off stage.
Just think of all the “Biden, 46th President” paraphernalia they’d have to trash if Pence were 46th.

Monday January 11, 2021 - Impeachment article introduced in committee. Voted out of committee on the same day.
Wednesday January 13, 2021 - Impeachment article voted by full house. House managers attempt to pass article to US senate. Mitch McConnell says US Senate is closed so come back tomorrow.
Thursday January 14, 2021 - US Senate accepts article of Impeachment. McConnell then says we will send a letter asking Trump to send them a list of lawyers to defend him.
Trump says “Screw Pelosi.” McConnell says “We can’t start the impeachment proceedings until we find a set of lawyers to represent Trump.” The Senate doesn’t find lawyers and that ends the impeachment trial.
Trump should play their game and say.....not running.....then oooops changed my mind.
