Supporters of Trump’s Electoral College stunt may be expelled from Congress under planned resolution

Republican legislators who challenged Joe Biden’s electoral college victory may be expelled from Congress under a planned resolution.

Newly elected Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) on Wednesday revealed the draft proposal shortly after Trump supporters broke into the Capitol, causing chaos and destruction. The crowd delayed the counting of Biden’s election victory under the baseless pretext that the election was “stolen,” as President Donald Trump has often repeated.

“I believe the Republican members of Congress who have incited this domestic terror attack through their attempts to overturn the election must face consequences,” Bush said in a statement. “They have broken their sacred Oath of Office.”

Either house may vote to expel a member. However it takes 2/3 majority to do it. Unless House and Senate Republicans cave, that’s not going to happen. In the case of House seats, there must be a special election called to fill the vacant seat, so the expelled House member can simply run for office again.

Most members who objected come from very Republican districts and should easily win re-election. The House could vote to refuse to seat them, but SCOTUS ruled in the case of expelled Congressman Adam Clayton Powell, D-crook, he had to be seated.

If a Senator were expelled, the governor can appoint a replacement. I’d assume a Republican governor would simply reappoint the expelled Senator.

Representative Cori Bush, who led ‘mostly peaceful’ protestors into the gated St. Louis neighbor resulting the the felony arrest of homeowners who dared resist them, has been in Congress less than a week. She might be a member of the Squad, but she’s not a mover and shaker quite yet.

“Baseless pretext” to you is obvious signs of fraud to me and to those who objected. What does this make the dems who objected in 2016?

Try it and see what a real insurrection looks like.

Sounds like they’ve been looking at Hong Kong and seeing what they’ve done. Over the years HK has disqualified elected officials because they didn’t say the oath of office correctly or they said something that would make them a threat to China.

[The one “modern” republican who has shown leadership is Kevin McCarthy and it would be suicide for him to allow such a vote to succeed.]

Not just political suicide. Suicide suicide.

I am shocked! Shocked! That a Bush would propose such an authoritarian measure. For an encore, he will want to attack Iraq again.

We’ll have sham elections. Like those in California, New York and Illinois where the outcome is known well in advance.

There will never be another free election in this country. I don’t blame the Democrats. It was Republicans who allowed it to happen.

Yesterday’s sorry debacle is all on them.

They want to unite the country?

If they expel duly elected members of Congress, they will bring a real insurrection and it will be armed.

Maybe they are that stupid.

If they do it they will need to repeal the 2nd amendment first.

[It takes a 2/3 vote of the members present to expel a member. No problem. They will prevent enough GOP members from entering the chamber so they get their 2/3.]

That means civil war. I don’t think *any* Democrat is confident enough of his chances of surviving multiple and persistent assassination attempts for the rest of his life to vote for civil war.

GA is turning Blue. I can hardly wait for Kemp and Raffensberger to be dumped in 2022.

And the RINOs in the legislature will be next.

"the bad guys are starting to cross lines to the point where some people are starting to resist."

A million angry voters need to show up on inauguration day and raise holy hell. And it needs to be a regular occurrence now in D.C.

[Trump voters won’t show up in 2022, assuming elections are still being held.]

They will, to secure their interests. If those interests cannot be secured, that’s when other means come into play.

They didn’t have a right to bring a Constitutional procedure which the Congress in fact followed because that is the law?

And they wonder why people would storm the Capitol?

[[(2) The GOP is likely to take over in 2022,]]

I’m thinking no- 80 million Trump voters are pissed at the rinos that turned on Trump, and In my opinion- uneducated as it is, they will make sure those rinos don’t get reelected in the midterms as a result-

You would rather take a bullet in the head from a Democrat than vote for a Republican? You’re more principled than the average bear.

“Why are these Nazis so proud of themselves for such vile behavior?
They brag about their lawlessness and abuse of civil rights?

Do they not see that they are condemning themselves in history?”

They literally could care less what we think, or how many they murder.

In fact, it is who they are.

And by very real treasonous thuggery, they literally own our lives and children on this planet.

Then they get to write the history.

They are proud of getting away with high crimes, treason, murder, and owning our children.
