Education Secretary Betsy DeVos resigned Thursday night, blaming President Donald Trump for rhetoric that fueled the invasion of the U.S. Capitol by a mob of Trump suppporters.
DeVos is the second member of Trump’s cabinet to quit because of the riot Wednesday.
Earlier Thursday, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said she would resign.
Chao is the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who refused to endorse Trump’s efforts to have Congress block the confirmation of Joe Biden as the winner of the presidential vote in the Electoral College.
A number of other Trump administration officials have quit since Wednesday.
No one will notice, she did nothing much in 4 years.

She did one amazing thing that I’m so grateful for, as the mom of three male teens/young adults. She restored due process rights for men falsely accused of rape in college. Before DeVos, it was kangaroo courts only.
Perhaps Biden will reverse that.
The GOPeers are self-exposed and done.

I’m horribly worried about how he and his family are going to survive in the months and years to come. But you wish the worst on him so that you feel less humiliation in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Speechless.

Virtually everyone in the Trump administration, good, bad or indifferent was, unlike Trump himself, a political creature of one kind or another. They have made their livings in politics and hope to somehow continue to make their livings in politics. Trump will no longer be President after noon on the 20th. There is no upside for continued loyalty to him. I’m not saying it’s right, but just how it is.
However, those who worked closely with President Trump likely know that “they’ll never work in this town again.” They are going to be unpersons. I really don’t know what difference yesterday or the next two weeks makes.
Marching to the Capitol is not the same as invading the Capitol. Trump never urged anyone to break down any doors. We are being fed bald-faced lies.

Agreed. He is in a precarious position right now. I’m sure the military has turned on him as well. He has no cards to play short of finishing out his term. That is a victory at this point. I’m sure it’s very lonely for him and his family right now. All we can do is pray for them and appreciate their sacrifices for us. I’m sure not even he envisioned it would be this bad.
