Oh yeah, THAT would have worked.

Why not? Free Republic, Parler, and TheDonald are filled with Americans insisting that a second civil war is upon us; that the soap box and ballot box have failed us; etc. They are drawing up their Democrat kill lists. They believe, fervently, that the President is the leader ordained by God to lead them in a war against the tyranny of liberalism. This is not hyperbole on my part; I'm sure you have read the same things that I have. They believe he is surrounded by traitors and turncoats; the "stabbed in the back" narrative is already widely established.

So, given the political landscape, and the willingness of the President's loyal constituents to do as he commands, what about my hypothesis would not have worked? Is it not in-line with mainstream conservative thinking these past weeks since November 3rd? The President and his most trusted surrogates commanded his followers to "fight", repeatedly and emphatically. How is a March on DC to save the Republic from what he calls "the greatest assault on American democracy in the history of our Country" unlikely to work when, according to most of the people here, it would be supported by the silent majority of Americans who back the President?

The ones who were armed... can tell you (and can’t know the concealed carry who may have unrecognized legal carry)— were largely licensed police and security contractors— all of whom reported to DC police. Again, something the press neglected to mention. The Capitol police were glad to see them, and professional EMS personnell from all over the US, attending.
