Senator Tim Scott will not oppose certification of Biden’s Electoral College victory

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) on Tuesday announced that he will not oppose certification of Electoral College results cementing President-Elect Joe Biden’s victory during Wednesday’s Joint Session of Congress.

Scott is breaking with many House republicans and a few Senate republicans who plan to object to the results in some states where Biden won.

However, Scott understands that “in nearly every election across this great country, there is some modicum of error. Some errors are merely mistakes, while some are intentional, and therefore fraud.” In the case of Trump’s opposition to the results, “Thus far, no justice, judge or fact finder has found evidence indicating the election results in those states should be overturned.”

In a statement, Scott said that he is “grateful for all of the work President Trump has done for the people of this country, and [he] was proud to work with him” on multiple endeavors. But in his reading of the Constitution, he found “no constitutionally viable means for the Congress to overturn an election wherein the states have certified and sent their Electors.”

While he believes that his colleagues in opposition are well-intentioned, he disagrees “with their method both in principle and in practice.” He went on to explain that “for their theory to work, Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats would have to elect Donald Trump president rather than Joe Biden. That it is not going to happen, not today or any other day.”

Scott did advocate for stronger voter protection measures, saying “there is a growing perception in this country that our elections are not as secure as they can be, and that must be remedied immediately.” As such, he believes ” the first legislative action the 117th Congress should undertake is the debate and passage of an election security and voter protection package. We must protect future elections from the same uncertainty that has plagued the 2020 election.”

Some have. Not all have denied standing.

Not exactly. Some denied standing. Others said that witnesses to misbehavior did not give cause for anyone but the defendants to actually look at things to determine whether or not the claimed activities happened.

No ballots have been examined with observers, nor voting machines examined other than the ones which have been asserted as faulty upon examination.

Did Rudy even present evidence of fraud in Court?

Affidavits and such. Discovery has not been allowed, and people have disgracefully been repeating his claim of non-assertion for a claim which was about equal-protection violations not fraud.

Forget Primaries. I never thought I would say this but it is time for the GOP to be tossed into the dustbin of history. A new party is needed.

I will admit that I have been vehemently against that and preached taking over the GOP from within. But it is impossible. The game is rigged.

I know the task is daunting but what Trump accomplished is proof it can be done. He in effect reshaped the GOP. The problem? The GOP doesn’t want, no, doesn’t like, no HATES the voters that he brought to the party.

Those voters, and there are more than enough of them, can support a party.

Task one of that party, DESTROY the GOP.

It won’t be easy, the establishment will use every legal and illegal means to prevent it. But it must be done.

Thank you!!!! Thank You!!!! I’ve been saying (no YELLING) the same damn thing since the election and finally walked away last month! There is NO saving the GOP! If people (conservatives especially) haven’t figured that out by now then we are truly lost! The GOP has presided over the culture decline and take over of our country over the past 40 Years (one can say even 50 years) and having simply been a speed bump on the path towards socialism. Thanks but no thanks!

Some have. Not all have denied standing.

Oh really? Where is your evidence?

He is correct. Some have not been denied standing, but were then denied discovery.

Add another to the list of those to primary in the future.

Do you really believe that anymore....seriously? The GOP is a fraud. I’m glad I’ve finally come to that realization and walked away last month!

“I reside in South Carolina and I believe that you judge a person by the content of their character not the color of their skin as Martin Luther King Jr. stated.”

You mean that Martin Luther King Jr. has to be the source of that sentiment? King got it from imbibing the 3,000 year old Judeao-Christian heritage.

I’m disappointed in Tim Scott.

When he first came on the scene he made a statement that stuck with me, ‘Disagree without being Disagreeable’.

It was a path I could accept and try to follow to some successes and some failures.

This seeming unconcern on his part of the widespread voting fraud that has corrupted the election
has soured me on him and called into question his integrity.

Ok, which two and at what stage of the case did they hear the facts?

There were a couple of cases where the judges at least looked at the affidavits, and decided they weren’t proof and dismissed the cases without allowing discovery. That’s as close as it comes.

Of course it is part of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Martin Luther King Jr. articulated it well.
You said that South Carolina Republican voters will support Sen.Tim Scott because he is black and South Carolinians have white guilt.
I reject your argument.

“I reject your argument.”

That is not an argument, it is sarcasm. However, I think there is a bit of truth to it, based on some co-workers comments I have heard over the years (not in your state), and before that in college.

The establishment will not give up control over the party without a fight....and they’re willing to fight as dirty as possible to keep their positions of power - look at their complicity in the steal.

Very well. We will have to primary and pick off establishment RINOs in future elections. That’s the only way we will get change. Fortunately, few actually support the RINOs. The populists have much more support and can muster a lot more votes.
