President Trump on Sunday signed a $2.3 trillion COVID-19 relief and government funding bill that includes $600 stimulus checks for most Americans.

What I am understanding here is that Trump had to sign this pork bill. He could veto it but he would have it overridden. But as a concession to signing this bill he will also sign another bill tomorrow for the $2000 stimulus payment to taxpayers.

Do I have this right? It makes no sense to me.

Well I think it is good that Donald “never again”Trump has only a few more weeks to damage the country. Is beyond embarrassing that he signs the bill giving aid to illegal aliens, limiting border wall construction, sending billions of arms dollars to foreign countries, and worse. How many times has he said he wouldn’t do this? Maybe this is his inauguration gift to Biden?

It makes no sense to me, either. Americans are hurting for sure. But signing any new stumulus—and sending the bulk of it to foreign countries as, essentially, “dane geld”—just puts us behind even further. We’re in a hole and sinking further.

The ‘redlined’ items may be impounded for 45 days. Unless both Houses of Congress agree to drop the ‘redlined’ items that money must then be spent.
