Joe Biden is said to be considering cyber attacks on Russian infrastructure in retaliation for the hacks that breached 200 US federal agencies and firms.

The president-elect's team will consider several options over the country's suspected role in the unprecedented hacking of US government agencies and companies, sources have told Reuters.

The massive data breach enabled hackers believed to be from Russia's SVR foreign intelligence service to explore the networks of government agencies, private companies and think-tanks for months. Moscow has denied involvement.

The Russians will detonate one of their nukes in a way that the US can actually see it (above ground).

That, hopefully, will be enough to get Biden to figure out that they can’t treat Russia like a Banana Republic.

Prior to my retirement, the fellow that looked after our data security indicated that our servers were under constant assault from outside agents, and we were a small outfit. He further indicated that the vast majority of those attacks were from China. I’ve become increasingly skeptical of the “blame Russia” narrative and consider it nothing more than a smoke screen for China.

This may be a big pile of crap. Everyone is jumping out of their skins, saying russia, russia, russia. Why is this worse than what always happens. Why it Russia going doing something worse. I think the lack of details are such that its a scam to stop Trump from doing anything in the last month. The wrong people are getting excited, so I think this is a deflection. Have Trump locked down. Create a crises in the end. So he can’t be controlled. It also may force the defense team to talk to Biden again. None of this smells right. Just like that new strain of covid in England right before the brexit. Ok its a bit faster spreading. But is it more dangerous. I have not heard that it is. Its just slightly more infectious, maybe. Its a scam.

“He can put Hunter on the case [the picture]”

How stupid can he be to let that picture be taken?

Well, maybe he wanted to show off his tan.

I agree, this is a simple thing to understand it shows how little people know and understand about cyber security.

Every country with any kind of Cyber Capability is constantly trying to hack into other countries.

The would include allies trying to understand what other allies are doing....

Israel is likely into every network we have, plus any network in the EU and certainly into every network int he Arab World.......

It’s a SOP thing....

Hunter had video cameras running a lot of the time. That’s just a still image screen capture.

He has many hours of him ‘doing it’ with very young girls, many of who apparently didn’t know they were being filmed.

It’s all on “the laptop from hell” that the FBI hid for almost a year.

What if the Chinese did it? I remember releases from either Snowden or Assange stating that our guys had programs for cyber-attacks which made it look as though another country, such as Russia, was the perp.

Exactly what I was thinking! The Chicoms have a much better motive than the Russians.

The travel plans of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto were learned by intercepting his coded secret messages. His plane was shot down and he was killed.

We are the best on earth at spying on our enemy messages

The ideal would be if they should ever reach for the nuclear football and start launch procedures, gremlins introduced by the NSA get in the way and stall them for days. Thereby giving us the opportunity to neutralize their nukes either by conventional means or our nukes. That’s not an advantage you give away for bragging rights.

Not only would China and/or the CIA/Mossad want to make it look like Russia’s doing, but the biggest geoglobal leap Russia could accomplish toward world domination would be to drive a war wedge between the US and Russia.

That would be the ultimate doomsday scenario....

If both sides start to ratchet this up, how long before it’s the Air Traffic Control system that goes haywire and few jets crash into each other...

Or rolling blackouts begin...

Or Wall Street becomes unstable...

Or Financial/ATM networks go down, especially nerve racking given most people don’t carry cash anymore...

Government penetrated on EVERY LEVEL but gee, Mr. Krebs, “most secure election ever”.

And there are those who are proud to collect their paycheck under such circumstances.

It’s the kind of thing you might want to do in the middle of a war. In peacetime, it’s just not that big a deal to fix. In wartime, given that resources will be stretched to their limits, it might be irreparable. That’s just another sub rosa reason for keeping capabilities on the down low. In fact, it might be carefully concealed through an entire war, unless something critical occurred that required it to be used in a way that resulted in exposure.

What our president said:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The Cyber Hack is far greater in the Fake News Media than in actuality. I have been fully briefed and everything is well under control. Russia, Russia, Russia is the priority chant when anything happens because Lamestream is, for mostly financial reasons, petrified of....

....discussing the possibility that it may be China (it may!). There could also have been a hit on our ridiculous voting machines during the election, which is now obvious that I won big, making it an even more corrupted embarrassment for the USA. @DNI_Ratcliffe @SecPompeo

Not even sworn in yet and trying to start a war.

The people who control the enfeebled and demented Biden will have us in a war with Russia within 12 months.
