AstraZeneca-Oxford Covid-19 Vaccine Only 62% Effective; Impact On Elderly Unclear As More Data Needed
Dawson County Journal ^ | 12/08/2020 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 12/08/2020 9:58:11 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Unlike the last few weeks, 'vaccine Monday' has become 'vaccine Tuesday', as the Britain's "V-Day" vaccinations grabbed headlines earlier, and now the country's most promising project - the AstraZeneca-Oxford jab - has published peer-reviewed data in the Lancet purporting to show that the shot is safe and effective. However, many questions about its efficacy and safety remain, and if anything, the data suggests that more research on the jab is needed.

Despite this, researchers confirmed they will now submit their data to regulators for approval to deploy the vaccine in mass immunization campaigns across the UK, Brazil, India and countries in Europe, among other places.

Still, the peer-reviewed study, which can be found here, declared that the vaccine "has an acceptable safety profile and has been found to be efficacious against symptomatic COVID-19".

Data also showed there were four case of Bell's Palsy among the vaccine group (that's a condition characterized by facial paralysis).

What's more, the data published Tuesday showed the no patients over 55 were in the group that received the half-dose to start - which appeared to be the most effective combination.

Given the fact that only 20% of the patients in the global trials were over the age of 55, questions remain about the vaccine's efficacy among elderly patients.

The partial data was culled from trials of the vaccine in the UK, Brazil and South Africa: safety results on 23,745 participants and protection levels on 11,636. The results can be difficult to interpret - just look at all the different dosing groups - because of mistake which led some participants to receive a half dose followed by a full one rather than two full doses as intended. That mistake was later heralded as a happy accident because the group appeared to show much higher levels of efficacy. But all of this needs more study considering the number of patients that received this combo was smaller than all the other groups (only 1,367).

Researchers claim the vaccine protected against disease in 62% of those given two full doses and in 90% of those initially given just the half dose, followed by a full dose. However, independent experts have said the second group was too small — 2,741 people — to judge the possible value of that approach and that more testing is needed. The half-dose group also didn’t include anyone over 55, and among others in the study, only about 20% were in that age group.

What's more, unlike Moderna and Pfizer, the AstraZeneca vaccine (which uses a different method) was found to be just 62% effective for all volunteers who received two doses. While a small group of trial participants who received

The news follows a detailed report on the Pfizer vaccine released by the FDA.

Of course, not everybody sees the lower efficacy numbers as a bad thing.

Getting the virus is 99.8% effective.

Pharma fakes results all the time. And the FDA is totally in thrall to them. I trust nothing these people say.

Only 62% effective, huh?

Can someone tell me the reasoning behind issuing a vaccine after which herd immunity has already kicked in worldwide?

I’ve never had a flu shot. There are two things I could not care less about regarding this virus: The “case” count and vaccine information.

But that’s just me. I think as it leaves God, western civilization has forgotten that death is a part of life.

This will be the first year in decades that I haven’t gotten my flu shot, and after once being hospitalized due to flu complications I have a healthy respect for all things viral.

What I don’t have any longer is respect for the Medical Industrial Complex.

sterility rate is?

induced cancer rate is?

death by massive autoimmune rxn rate is?

the rate at which FauXi and CDC get their royalties
on tests, on vaccines, on treatments - 100%

the rate at which FauXi and CDC are indicted
for their war plan to sterilize and kill Americans 0%

It’s the new flu shot... a little better than a placebo.

“Can someone tell me the reasoning behind issuing a vaccine after which herd immunity has already kicked in worldwide?”

The mentality behind the “forced vaxxers” is this: we will force because we want to and because we can.

Explain to me why, for example, the hospital near to where I grew up was carpeted? Would it surprise you to know that this particular hospital was known for hospital infection? And my son’s Ped MD’s office waiting area (which has sick children): also carpeted. And the basement of the hospital where my son was born...McDonald’s restaurant. The list goes on and on.

And they wonder why some of us educated, independent thinkers ask serious questions of conventional medicine.

I will get dose two of the Astra Zeneca vaccine in a week. Don’t know if the first was low dose or not. I will ask and they may or may not tell me. Absent a human challenge trial which may or may not be in the cards, I don’t put much stock in the effectiveness stats. I got a pretty good immune response on shot one. There is so much we don’t know about the trials. We could know which recipients built up antibodies and if they were among the immune or infected but we won’t have real data for years.

We’re being duped by this entire government-control Covid scam.

When something seems questionable it would be good to understand what they see as their end goal.

What is Bill Gates' end goal? Researching that right there would uncover what they all really want.

They have set up their entire agenda surrounding our compliance. They can't convince us of their plan, because a lot of what they say is crazy. So, they have only one option and that is to trick us into complying, and if that doesn't work then they will add force.

We are living under a great delusion that effects every part of our lives. We are in that movie "Gaslight" and we are Ingrid Bergman and our @$$hole husband is trying to convince that we are crazy if we don't get a vaccine. And, everything will get back to normal if'n we just comply. Meanwhile, what he really wants is power over us, our money and our souls.

That should just about sum it up.

Exactly. Two years ago my wife and my brother in Seattle both got the flu bad. My wife had it for four weeks (no flu shot) and my brother had it for six, with an ER visit (he had had a flu shot).

I nursed my wife during the whole thing and never so much as showed symptoms. But yeah, the flu is serious stuff. In fact, if you are under 60 I’d worry about it a lot more than this weak sister. This is why I don’t understand the destruction of our economy and severe wounding of our culture over it.

But I’m old and the kids can come to grips with the world they’ve created.

Not having television, I ignored all the other “pandemics” like the swine and bird flu’s. They came, they went, and I just saw stuff like the funny picture of the kid licking a pigs nose.

But I had no choice with this one. The funny part is that it is the mildest of the bunch.

I’ve said this a hundred times: “If ‘they’ wanted us out of our cars, all they would have to do is breathlessly report a few of the day’s traffic deaths with interviews with bereaved family members.”

That is how I see this nonsense. And the lemmings gobble it up.

I keep hearing that seniors are being given 4x the strength of the flu vaccine this year. Why? I know of a few people that got really very ill from this shot.

I would not be surprised if they are using seniors as guinea
pigs for the covid vaccine.

Now maybe that sounds crazy to some, but I put nothing past drug companies and the RAT Party. Ethical and moral are not words to describe them.

Moderna’s vaccine was 100% effective, in its 30,000 member trial, protecting against serious COVID disease and death.

Sounds good, but (the point being) - I’m not interested in taking an experimental drug when the risks are so low to begin with.
