The Justice Department is investigating a potential crime related to funneling money to the White House or related political committee in exchange for a presidential pardon, according to court records unsealed Tuesday in federal court.
The case is the latest legal twist in the waning days of President Donald Trump's administration after several of his top advisers have been convicted of federal criminal charges and as the possibility rises of Trump giving pardons to those who've been loyal to him.
The disclosure is in 20 pages of partially redacted documents made public by the DC District Court on Tuesday afternoon. The records show Chief Judge Beryl Howell's review in August of a request from prosecutors to access documents obtained in a search as part of a bribery-for-pardon investigation.

It is safe to say if this had anything to do with Trump directly it would have been leaked in a New York minute. Play on words is intentional there....

PLEASE!!!! EVERYONE!!!! WAKE THE FUK UP!!!! .... here's what it says: someone...."offered "a substantial political contribution in exchange for a presidential pardon or reprieve of sentence" for a convicted defendant whose name is redacted, according to the redacted documents.".... nothing points to ANYONE IN THE WHITEHORSE, only that an outsider offered out something in return for a pardon!!!!!
This is nothing more than smear tactics by the media to taint the White House with an allegation of SOME OUTSIDE PARTY potentially committing a criminal act!

"Who do you think they are "investigating"?" Sorry, this is all news to me, I have no idea what's going on here.
I'm only saying, if the target is Trump, wouldn't they report that right off?
Others here mentioned Mark Rich, pardoned by Clinton, most likely, I'd think, in exchange for some kind of compensation.
But if the target is indeed Trump, then I'd agree with you that leftist government corruption has exploded beyond our (or at least my) previous imagination.

If Trump is handing out pardons as he has every right to do they are for free. This is another gotcha attempt. The news outlets are all getting together to try to push Trump to concede.

"It is going to have to be someone close to Trump." Sorry, I didn't read it as an attack on Trump's presidency, for the obvious reason that Trump has not pardoned any wealthy supporters that I know of.
But Clinton did, and what about the Bamster?

"I read at another site a comment which stated that Biden would not be sworn in, and this so-called bribe accusation will be the focus of another attempt at impeaching Trump." Sure, anything is possible, but I've seen nothing to support such speculations.

Good point. It would have been leaked back in August, or at least before now to do damage to President Trump prior to the election.

His ex-wife Denise Rich donated half-a-million to the Clinton Library. And that reminded me of the gift registry that somebody, perhaps the Clintons set up for themselves prior to leaving the White House. This NY Post article from 2002 says the gift registry was at Borsheim's.

I hope that too. Carter Page is.
I’m not sure if receiving a pardon hurts his chances of a successful suit. But I think the evidence is on his side at this point.

It’s pretty much all redacted after page 2.
