Saying, 'Trust The Science' Showcases Democrat Ignorance

When Americans object to lockdowns and mandatory masks, Leftists cry “trust the science.” This phrase reveals just how little they actually know about science. Einstein, who did know something about science, said “the most important thing is to never stop questioning;” he did not say “never stop trusting.” Americans need to recognize that the leftists’ mantra is not about science but about silence.

It is a fundamental tenet of science to doubt everything, including political statements. Science is an ever-changing field where competing ideas are hypothesized, tested, and then followed by vigorous challenges that frequently overturn earlier findings. Science has been wrong so often that anyone looking to it to provide “the” single unassailable answer is almost comical. What’s worse is that those who would prefix “science” with “accepted” dogmatically refuse to change.

For millennia, astronomy’s “accepted science” asserted that the Sun circled the Earth, even though believing so required a universe where planets periodically stopped and briefly reversed course before continuing on their heavenly journeys. It would take four of the greatest minds in history — Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, and Newton — working over centuries to change the “accepted science.” Along the way, the resistance was fierce — books were banned, burned, and its authors incarcerated.

Galileo, for instance, was convicted of heresy for his troubles and forced to spend the remainder of his life under house arrest. The “accepted science” finally came around 350 years later when, in 1992, Galileo was officially vindicated.

In the middle of a period between glacial maximum, the Bolshies are complaining about it being too hot or too cold. Science is too imprecise. What we need is wizards, or to be more precise, charlatans.

The Apostle Paul told Timothy that it was "science, falsely so-called". So those sci-gnostics have been at it a long time.

The science on pro-maks and pro-lockdowns is far from definitive. What’s being promoted is junk science.

Good science (from randomized trial - generally free from bias) currently shows us that masks us by the general public do not appear to work.

Our fine democrat “rulers” claim they have science backing them up.

Keep in mind, when rules only apply you, and not those in charge, you are not being governed, you are being ruled.

Numbers don’t lie. See the study by Genevieve Briand of John’s Hopkins, if you can find it now that it’s been memory-holed.

Even if you don’t, when exactly did “15 days to flatten the curve”, which was supposedly necessary to prevent overwhelming the medical system, become face masks, social distancing, and plexiglass everywhere, for over 8 MONTHS? And it continues, despite the fact that NONE of the dire predictions came to pass, and despite the fact that the death rate has steadily declined since late April, and despite the fact that there have been no more deaths this year than normal. Alll of that tells you all you need to know about it.

COVID IS A LIE. And while some new flu strain which has been named “COVID” may exist, everything we’ve been told about it, and everything that has been done in response to it, is a complete and utter fraud. Deaths and hospitalizations are constantly thrown around to frighten people (idiots), but no context for those numbers is ever given. And when someone (like Genevieve Briand) actually does put them in context, it is spiked as “dangerous minsonformation”.

COVID IS A FRAUD.

Pay attention folks, it's not science, its politics. I've been listening to this crap for 50 years.

The 1960s - Oil gone in 10 years, 1970s- another ice age in 10 years, the 1980s - acid rain will destroy all crops in 10 years, 1990s - The ozone layer will be destroyed in 10 years, 2000s - The icecaps will be gone in 10 years.

None happened, but all resulted in more taxes.

What refutes science?
Better science
What doesn’t refute science
Your feelings
Your religion
Your favorite politician
Your half-baked opinion after watching two YouTube videos

“See the study by Genevieve Briand of John’s Hopkins, if you can find it now that it’s been memory-holed.”

I’ve read it. It’s all over the web if you are actually looking for it instead of running around spouting a flawed analysis of it that supports what you want to believe.

My argument is based on EXACTLY the sort of analysis that the study claims. I come up with the same results - there is no spike in deaths among the elderly, which the author of the study says they expected to see. Their conclusion is that there were no excess deaths. My conclusion, supported with sourced data, is that the distribution of COVID deaths is similar enough to the distribution of the rest of the stuff that kills people so that no spike in any particular age bracket is statistically significant.

You are in total denial.

“Even if you don’t, when exactly did “15 days to flatten the curve”, which was supposedly necessary to prevent overwhelming the medical system, become face masks, social distancing, and plexiglass everywhere, for over 8 MONTHS?”

Perhaps the 15 days thing would have worked if the terminally ODD crowd had understood the choice was between masks for a short term or long term lockdowns. Oh, well. In other words, if it didn’t work it was because people refused to participate. However, it did work to some degree.

“And it continues, despite the fact that NONE of the dire predictions came to pass, and despite the fact that the death rate has steadily declined since late April, and despite the fact that there have been no more deaths this year than normal.”

Or, the mitigation worked well enough, in spite of the “muh rights” crowd, to keep our HCS from being overwhelmed. What evidence do you have that the death rate has declined? We’re back up to 1,000+ most days and some over 2,000. We are approaching the same death rate that we knew from the Diamond Princess eight months ago - 2.5%. The reason we’re getting there is the mass testing, not the absence of cases. So far, only about 4% of the population has been infected. That is an amazing feat, given that there is no herd immunity or vaccine. Compare to a 20% infection rate from the common flu for which we have vaccines and from which we have a measure of herd immunity. At just 20% we’d have over a million dead from COVID. So, maybe those mitigation efforts DID make a difference. As for there being no more deaths, where is your proof of that? According to the CDC, which provided the data for the study you are misunderstanding, there have been excess deaths to about the same number as the reported COVID fatalities. I believe another FReeper has already provided a graph of that data on this thread.

In any case, you are in denial, perhaps irredeemably so.

It DID work to some degree? Really? And what is your basis for that conclusion?

the mitigation worked well enough, in spite of the “muh rights” crowd

Yeah, those pesky people actually wanting their rights to be respected. Those bastards! You are the one in denial. Utter, complete, denial.

We’re back up to 1,000+ most days and some over 2,000.

Riiiight. So, the same bogus method of counting COVID "deaths" gets ramped back up, and despite the evidence and analysis that shows how bogus it is, you're ready to swallow it whole.

We are approaching the same death rate that we knew from the Diamond Princess eight months ago - 2.5%.

So, with MILLIONS of supposed new "cases", and a death rate that, even as inflated as it is, is the same as it was back when only a fraction of that number were "infected", and you think the death rate is the same?

The reason we’re getting there is the mass testing, not the absence of cases.

So, the mass testing, of millions of people who either don't even know they have COVID, or suffer nothing more than cold or flu symptoms, and who have NOT and are NOT dying in any significant numbers (that is, less than 0.1%), means the death rate is going up?

Your entire post is rambling, illogical, and provable b.s. (and in fact has been proven to be b.s., repeatedly). But fear not, I have the cure for COVID, and it is as believable and makes as much sense as your defense of this fraud: Unicorn Farts! Yes, Unicorn Farts, my friend. Absolutely 100% guaranteed to not only cure COVID, but also to PREVENT you from catching COVID (and much, much more effective than a mask, whether that mask is an actual mask, or a bandana, or the collar of your t-shirt, or a dirty sock).

You know, most of you COVID fear-mongering dopes have long since stopped posting here, most have stopped even trying to defend this nonsense, because it has become so apparent that it is all a fraud. I'm sure you believe the masks work, and you likely also believe that a square of plexiglass hanging over a counter does, and you also likely believe that while churches are "super spreader" hotbeds, people milling about in Walmart or Costco or Home Depot, are not. And you probably think it makes sense to tell families they can't get together for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but going to the liquor store, or strip clubs? A-OK!

And by the way, the notion that no one has any immunity to COVID? Yeah, that's another lie. Is your name Fauci, by any chance?

Well, just make up your own numbers, then. Oh, wait, that’s what you ARE doing.

Tell me, which amendment identifies your right to spread a potentially fatal disease? Is it the same one that guarantees your right to drive drunk?

Where did you get your immunity to COVID? From your Chinese masters so you could be safe while disseminating your bullshit?

Your entire post is confirmation-biased bullshit. You are an idiot, incapable of understanding basic statistics or processing any sort of idea that conflicts with your predetermined conclusions.

Try some science. I know that’s totally alien to you and your weapons-grade ODD, but give it a shot.

“You know, most of you COVID fear-mongering dopes have long since stopped posting here, most have stopped even trying to defend this nonsense, because it has become so apparent that it is all a fraud. Maybe they just got tired of all the science- and logic-free abuse you hoaxers dish out because you want to deny the facts. So there you are, making all sorts of unsupported allegations, based on your own self hate. Admitting that you abuse people just because they have different beliefs than yours.

In short, since you don’t want to believe that COVID is real you deny that there are any victims, no matter who says anything to the contrary, regardless of their credentials. That makes you an idiot.

Tell me, you monumental moron, which amendment identifies your right to force me to do anything, based on your FEAR that I might be “spreading a potentially fatal disease”? You mean, like the flu? I don’t have COVID, so even if we accept your unbelievably stupid premise, that somehow, you have the RIGHT to dictate where I go and what I wear on my face, it is based on a presumption of my “guilt”.

You are an imbecile, like all of the other pants-wetting, face mask worshipping fools. I’m done wasting my time with you. Put your mask on, and go back under your bed or your rock, or whatever it is that you cower under while you suck your thumb while everyone else lives their life, or at least tries to, if only you stupid Karens would leave them alone. You are a pathetic waste of space and air.
