Some say Andrew Cuomo is the worst governor in the United States, but I strongly disagree.

My guy, Gavin Newsome, probably hasn't caused as many nursing home deaths, but he's still pretty terrible.

Despite the occasional pictures of some surfer who is thousands of feet away from anyone getting arrested, this has always been about intimidating businesses into closing. Individuals can defy the dictates of these governors because local law enforcement is not really going to crack down on them. Businesses can be fined out of existence.

This afternoon, the oldie-goldie movie channel showed "The Plymouth Adventure", an account of the first settlers crossing the dangerous ocean and landing at Plymouth Rock in November, the year of our Lord 1620.

It's a fictionalized version, but you get the dramatic feel of the unbelievably-hazardous voyage made by the brave men, women and children who embarked from England to seek religious freedom and to "found" our beloved country.

The great Spencer Tracy (in his prime) does a fantastic acting job in this beautifully-written movie which was made over 70 years ago. He should have won an Oscar for his role as the Captain of the Mayflower.

If you can locate this movie, it's an ideal film for your Thanksgiving holiday family viewing. My heart is still pumping with tension mixed with ultimate gratefulness, pride and admiration after viewing this gripping chronicle of our nation's birth.

The acting of this film's cast was superb.

Spencer Tracy was terrific, of course, but also magnificent was actress Gene Tierney who played the complex role of the wife of William Bradford, signer of the Mayflower Compact and the first Governor of the newly-settled Plymouth Colony (1621-1657).
