South Australia will come out of hard lockdown on Saturday night — three days early — and outdoor exercise with family or housemates will be allowed "effective immediately".
It comes as the state records three new coronavirus cases, all of which were already in quarantine and were close contacts of staff at a medi-hotel and the Brompton aged care home.
Premier Steven Marshall thanked South Australians for "their spirit" during the state's tough lockdown, which only allowed people to leave their homes once a day to obtain essential goods.
But he said authorities decided to end the lockdown after discovering one of the positive cases at the centre of the Woodville Pizza Bar coronavirus hotspot had misled contact tracers.
The man, who worked at the Stamford medi-hotel, told authorities he contracted coronavirus after purchasing a pizza, but it has been revealed that he was actually working at the pizza shop — increasing his exposure to the virus.
"One of the close contacts linked to the Woodville Pizza Bar deliberately misled the contact tracing team," Mr Marshall said.
"We know now that they lied. To say that I'm fuming is an understatement, we're absolutely livid about the actions of this individual.
"I will not let the disgraceful conduct of a single individual keep SA in these circuit breaker conditions one day longer than what is necessary.
"However, this lie still means that our contact tracers need breathing space to contact people, but not for as long."
Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said the pizza worker who lied to authorities would not be fined or charged for his actions, with the Premier adding that he has to ensure an "increased penalty wouldn't force information underground".
"We've got to look at this, we've got to balance," he said.

Did any of us imagine a government so “total” that it could decree when you could leave your home?
Even prisoners get one hour a day for exercise.
So is the whole country living under the same rules as someone in prison? And without any knowledge of how long their sentence will be?
Interesting that a lockdown would end as a result of someone lying to the secret police . . . in hard-left regimes, it seems the opposite would happen.

In related news, the liar never showed his face in Adelaide ever again, for fear that a local mob would hunt him down and kill him. The end.
So they would keep people locked down longer over one case if true? Insanity.
The reason is that this case looked like a mutation had happened because according to his lie, he was only in contact with the infected person (a pizza shop worker) for a minute as he picked up a takeaway pizza.
In fact, he worked at the pizza shop himself so was in contact with the other person for hours, not just a minute.
He’d be wise to leave the state - but everybody has closed their borders to South Australia because of his lie.
Not the whole country - but one state. And it was supposedly going to be for six days.
Of course, across the border in Victoria, when we went into hard lockdown it was only supposed to be for two weeks - and kept being extended until it was nearly four months. We're mostly out of now but that's only been for the last two weeks. And they could throw us back in any time they like.
Unfortunately because of the way the Australian constitution functions, the actions of state governments are not restrained in the way the federal government is. State governments can basically act in dictatorial fashion if they choose to.
Wow! And they don’t end the lockdown immediately, they end it on Sat night!
Yes - they have relaxed it now, but they still need to contact trace and because of the person’s lie they have to start a lot of the tracing from scratch. For various legal reasons announcements like this take effect at midnight on a particular date and they cannot complete by the end of today, so it’s tomorrow night.
I’m not saying this is good enough, but there are reasons why it’s happening that way.
But lying to contract tracers is fun!

It works that way in America, too! That’s why all of the BLUE states are still locked down, and the RED states are going about their business, keeping the economy slightly above water which is SUPPORTING the @#$%^&! BLUE States, who will whine and cry and get GOBS of Federal Money, anyway!

Conservative (like me) trapped in Blue states these days, can’t win.
The Red States will always be bailing out the Blue States with Federal Cash - it’s all one big pile.
If Biden is ‘selected’ watch the cash flow to the totally dysfunctional/bankrupted Blue States.
