Like millions of Americans, I have in recent days grown sick of Facebook. Like hundreds of thousands, I've abandoned it for Parler.
When I said goodbye to my friends on Facebook, they were all kind. Many said they'd miss me, and others offered advice. One told me she had glanced into Parler and had found it horrifying. But, she said, she was sure I had done my due diligence before signing on.
Indeed I had. Parler allows you to choose whose words you read and whose memes you chuckle at. I'm not a fan of outlandish conspiracy theories so I don't keep up with the Joneses -- Alex or Mother. I enjoy reading intelligent articles from all sides, so I follow the American Thinker and National Review on Parler. I'm a libertarian, so on Parler I also follow Reason and the Cato Institute. Because they haven’t yet signed on to Parler, I subscribed to the New Republic and Harpers. I don’t want to be trapped in a bubble of anyone’s making.
Problem solved.
Another pointed out that according to Wikipedia, “Parler has a significant user base of Trump supporters, conservatives, and Saudi nationalists, and posts often contain far-right content, antisemitism, and conspiracy theories.”

Parler demands my cell phone number in order to make an account.
No thanks.
Oh, and I did set up a Parler account. It is more like Twitter to me. I did delete my Twitter account, I only had one to see other posts. I did set up MeWe quite awhile ago, but still there is not much is on it yet.
The place to be is theDonald.win
After 10yrs on FB - initially just to stay in touch with my daughter & relatives, I deleted my account Wednesday morning Nov 4th.
I did download all my FB files days earlier just to save all my priceless pics.
I’m set up on MeWe now.
Bugged out a long time ago!
Let’s be honest: no one is using Facebook for anything more than bragging to people they knew 20+ years ago. The idea that we’re using it to “keep in touch with people we know/knew” is bull. Most folks can count on one hand the number of people they consider a close friend. Maintaining social ties to someone you met once at a Halloween party in 1998 isn’t “keep(ing) in touch with people (you) know.”
Facebook is a disease. Social media in general is a psychological pathology. It feeds society’s narcissism and voyeurism. We don’t care that Barb from accounting at a job we held 15 years ago is doing in Cabo with her ex-husband’s brother. We don’t really “like” that our sister-in-law crocheted a sweater for her pocket pup. We don’t really wish Paul, the local tire store owner’s kid, a “happy birthday.” It’s all meaningless drivel.
Let’s go back to immediate, nuclear family ties and like-minded neighborly friendships. Let’s stop pretending to be social and actually be social in our communities and our churches. Facebook was an idea that morphed into an advertising platform where YOU are the product. Cut off the spigot. Just stop with the disingenuous social disease that is Facebook and go back to meaningful, significant social interaction.
I tried Parler twice. It’s very complicated and, as you said, ordinary folks can’t break through the celebrity gate.
I signed up on MeWe. A HUGE improvement! There are sections and topics for most everyone, and it’s as easy to post there as it is on Free Republic. Photos can be uploaded in a snap and, so far, everyone I’ve encountered is very friendly and helpful.
You Tube? What’s that?
My understanding is that the counterparts to the leftist social media are as follows:
Fakebook: MeWe
Twitter: Parler
YouTube: Rumble
The author is equating Parler as a conservative-friendly counterpart to Fakebook, but from what I have read he should actually be referring to MeWe as a similar, alternative platform.
I am not sure about this. I am not on either Fakebook or MeWe. I have never signed up for Twitter but am on Parler. I am not subscribed to YouTube but have subscribed to Rumble.
I deactivated my Facebook account last week. I will miss family, friends, Cold War Vets and Old Woodworking Machine groups, but I refuse to do anything to support or give approval to Herr Zuckerberg’s 4th Reich!
Parler is no Facebook, but it is at least it supports freedom of speech.
I have watched MEWE for about a year. It appears that the Anti-Trump troll farm is now very active there. Sad.
“I prefer MeWe.”
Look up Dr. Andrew Saul - Megavitamin Man on MeWe. Tons of very good info.
There are some good sites on Facebook. Facebook is where I go to find out where Stop the Steal rallies are taking place.
“I have never ever posted on Facebook. Never will.”
Neither have I. What is it about this site that draws so many users? Barely understand it’s function, it’s almost as if it’s some kind of addictive drug.
People need to get real lives.
Unfortunately, they allow sluts to advertise there.

Do a Google and it will walk you through the steps. It will allow you to pause it but I chose to delete mine.
Try: USA.Life a good alternative to FB
Which is why they've been dead to me for years. There's more to it on my home computer.
Come to: USA.Life. a good alternative to FB.
Yes, the type is too light for me to read !!
