(CNN)As House Democrats prepare to reelect their entire leadership team this week, one thing has come into clear focus 14 days removed from the 2020 election: They got beat -- badly.
While much of the focus in the days immediately after November 3 fell on whether Joe Biden had beaten Donald Trump (he had) and whether Democrats would win back the Senate majority (they haven't -- yet), the last few days have been filled with close House races (finally) being projected. And those projections reveal just how poorly House Democrats did.
With just a handful of races still uncalled at this point, Republicans have gained nine seats -- having won 12 Democratic-held districts and lost just three of their own. And those numbers don't even tell the full story, given that two of the three seats Republicans lost were the direct result of a redrawing of North Carolina's congressional districts that reworked the map in ways that were decidedly unfavorable to the GOP. Subtract those two seats, which neither party spent any money in or seriously contested, and you are down to a single competitive seat that went from red to blue: The suburban Atlanta 7th District.
As David Wasserman, the House editor at the Cook Political Report, a non-partisan campaign tip sheet, noted on Twitter on Monday:
"It's been almost two weeks since Election Day, and Democrats still haven't won a *single one* of the 27 House races in @CookPolitical's Toss Up column."
That's an incredible stat -- especially when you consider that the Democratic presidential nominee [allegedly] won 306 electoral votes ...

If a fair election, Biden would come out almost identical to these elections.
Interesting point. I wonder if anyone will try to correct you.
I can’t name one moderate democrat let alone eight !
They justify all their criminal crap, like an abusive spouse: I hit her, but she moved my coffee cup.
socialists vs “nazis”
The first time in United States history we have coattails with no coat
Very good expression. Mind if I borrow it?
It certainly does. People don’t vote one way on top and the other way for everyone else.
They got beat -- badly.
Well not really...I would have loved to have beaten this "badly" in the 2018 elections and kept control of the gavels. The bogus impeachment nonsense and endless phony investigations to create constant headlines of artificial "scandals" would not have been able to come to pass to keep Trump's negatives higher than they otherwise would have been.
it was a Republican tsunami....so large, they couldn’t control all the damage
The Red Wave was real
alas, though, the fraud was realer...
The first time in United States history we have coattails with no coat
Did the GOP do well in individual districts where Trump did not also perform well?
There are no “moderate” dems, the so called moderates will vote in lockstep with the rest of the dems.
The are a monolithic hive mind.
Run down of all nine uncalled races:
NY01, NY02 - R incumbents have huge leads, but there are still a lot of mail ballots to count.
NY22 - not really that close, R insurgent ahead 57.2 to 46.6
CA21, CA39 - R insurgents have 1 point leads with “99 percent of votes counted”
IA02, CA25 - minuscule margin for R insurgent in first, R incumbent in second
LA05 - headed to a run-off, probably R on R, but if R on D, the R will still hold this seat
NJ07 - R insurgent down, now, by only 1 point, with more counting ahead
Possibly Rs will take all nine, and the House wind up 220 to 215.
Dems 225...Pubbies 210....Only need to peel off 8 “moderate” dems for a showdown in what bills pass...Are there any moderate dems???There will be if the dems go too far left...
From what I'm hearing, the final tally will be even closer than that. Maybe 222 D and 213 R.
If justice prevails and Trump wins re-election AND the GOP hangs onto the Senate, there may be a few Dems who can be flipped to R to join the majority party.
LOL! Well said!
No one votes “upticket”; it does not exist. Its always “downticket”. Which means fraud and stolen elections.
As David Wasserman, the House editor at the Cook Political Report, a non-partisan campaign tip sheet, noted on Twitter on Monday:
Wasserman is a lying sack of **** and a dem propagandist. This fool predicted a D+14 gain. Only off by 26 seats, yet still is cited as some guru.
This probably won’t happen but what would be a real kick is if there are 8 moderate Dems who would put up one of their own as speaker and get all of the GOP members to vote with them to toss out Nancy Pelosi and then sideline “The Squad”. That would split their party right down the middle (what is the middle for them, anyway). Would love to see The Squad and their followers go to the Green Party and take away a big part of the Dem voting base.
Are there any moderate dems?
If ANY have brain cells sparking, they won't listen to Nanzi, otherwise in 2022 they'll end up like their missing comrades!
I thought for sure you had modified the headline but lo & behold that was exactly the way CNN wrote it!
Not really it is a reflection of some extreme voting patterns in areas of the country where a large parasite class exists.
