The hideous sight we hoped not to see again: Panic buyers across America empty shelves of toilet roll, disinfectant and food as states begin to impose stricter lockdowns with daily cases spiking to 166k and hospitalizations surging to record of 73,000

Toilet paper, disinfectant and groceries are once again flying off the shelves across the United States with states forced to impose stricter lockdowns and the number of new COVID-19 cases spiking to 166,000 Monday.

Pictures taken in recent days show stores in Washington, California, Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Michigan and Missouri have all been affected by the rush. It is the second time this year that shoppers appear to be panic buying; stores were left scrambling to restock shelves wiped out in response to COVID-19 back in March.

But experts say the run is likely to be less severe this time as stores and shoppers are more prepared. Subodha Kumar, a supply chain expert at Temple University, told The Daily Beast: 'People have already hoarded a lot of this stuff in their basements.'

Yep, one of my team said California’s going “purple” again - I didn’t even know WTF that meant.

“Because it’s CASES that matter.”

Well now isn’t this a major size steaming pile of bullsh*t!

What are the “after effects”? Describe them and give some numbers (with links) as to what % of those who get the virus suffer serious “after effects.

Why don’t we discuss CASES during the regular flu seasons before the China Virus? Surely those infected suffered from “after effects”....right?

Tell me what kind of a fool thinks it is ok to demolish the world wide economy over a virus which we KNOW is actually LESS dangerous to anyone under 60 than almost all of the other viruses we routinely get every year?

People who are crapping themselves because of the media porn being spread ought to curl up in their basements and suck their thumb until the media tires of their game and gives the all clear. Just don’t tell the 85% of the population who has almost no risk of either serious illness and even less of dying that we have to cower in fear because THEY are scared to death.

Some seed companies are already feeling the effects. I usually don’t start getting the next year’s seed catalogs until December. This year, the Pinetree 2021 has already arrived. What’s more, a large number of the varieties are already sold out, or are otherwise not available yet.

When Cultivariable announced last month that their supply of true potato seeds had been restocked, I ordered a bunch. They sell out fast.

"This is madness. These governors have no right to restrict free Americans to the extent they have. Here in Florida we had a big spike in June and we weathered it. Never locked down. Now it’s back all across the globe. This is not a second wave. This is a second biological attack, maybe from the enemy within."

I'm starting to think they are a bit worried about the ultimate response of 72 million people who voted for Trump, elected Donald Trump and have no intent on living under socialism.

They are trying to put a damper on large gatherings and gatherings in general. They are also creating a diversion to take the focus off the fact the country is under all out attack from within.

We went to a smaller neighborhood chain store yesterday instead of using Walmart.

Monday is/was their unannounced sales day with great prices on many items on our lists.

Toilet paper, kleenix/puffs, paper towels were on sale, and good canned veggies. So, we loaded up on those items.

Clorox wipes and sprays were still out.

Good prices on our name brand table wine in big jugs.

Our fav free standing one stand/farmers market is now closed until just before Easter. This small chain store is a short distance from the seasonally closed stand, and they wisely had a lot of fresh veggies and fruit on/in bins by the front door. People were loading up, of course most fresh stuff might last 4-5 days.

Yes, for several months TP was being hoarded and I even saw some a-holes charging $8 per roll on Amazon and Ebay.
Could not find any TP in the store or online for Wal-Mart.
During that time is when some of the manufacturers started selling direct. As soon as THAT started, suddenly it was available in stores again.

I am well stocked on sanitizer. Also, Pine-Sol later made the covid-killing list. But a couple of months ago, talking heads started saying “Yeah, you CAN possibly get it from surfaces, but the most likely way of catching it is in the air, so everybody wear masks.”

“People are stocking up because they don’t want to wait two hours in line to buy stuff because these Governors told businesses they can’t have more than 25% of occupancy during lock down.”

My wife was told what you posted above, by a friend while we were shopping yesterday morning. So, we bought a lot of non perishables both on and off her shopping list. Many if not most of our purchases as noted in another reply were on sale.

So my Gov decided to lock us down starting yesterday (Monday).

She announced this lockdown on Friday.

The stores were mobbed over the weekend. People bitched that the shoppers were “stupid hoarders”.

It is my observation that humans are (mostly) rational animals and do things for a reason.

In this case the “reason” is because LAST time we were shut down we were told “two weeks to flatten the curve” and were still shut down three months later. While grocery stores were open, you had to wait maybe an hour to get in, there were restrictions on how much you could purchase, and the shelves were empty.

So telling people they are going to return to that same scenario in three days and they are NOT supposed to rush the stores? Really?

Lots more people leaving New York too.

Any one know how many lock-down states are losing population?

People are idiots if they think Trump didn’t win, or that he won’t fight it and come out victorious. Of course there are plenty of idiots and then the rest of us have to “panic buy” too since all the TP is gone already. Tyrant governors need to be brought down.
