Toilet paper, disinfectant and groceries are once again flying off the shelves across the United States with states forced to impose stricter lockdowns and the number of new COVID-19 cases spiking to 166,000 Monday.
Pictures taken in recent days show stores in Washington, California, Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Michigan and Missouri have all been affected by the rush. It is the second time this year that shoppers appear to be panic buying; stores were left scrambling to restock shelves wiped out in response to COVID-19 back in March.
But experts say the run is likely to be less severe this time as stores and shoppers are more prepared. Subodha Kumar, a supply chain expert at Temple University, told The Daily Beast: 'People have already hoarded a lot of this stuff in their basements.'

The audacity of the fraudsters is staggering.
In mid-September, fascist health departments all over the country, 22 states in all, switched to CID. This is not COVID testing, but COVID-Related Infectious Diseases.
The list includes everything from Influenza A & B to Rhinovirus. This was done because the cases were dying down, and they wanted to keep focus on the virus. (Read: Trump was winning, and we had to pick up the scare to defeat him) This was done in North Carolina, where we’d been averaging about 1200 cases a day, and suddenly had a 6000 case spike, and leveled off at the new average of about 2500 a day. We saw massive spikes across the country with no corresponding death or hospitalization increases.
The CDC just announced about 50,000 of the “COVID deaths” were literally heart attacks and had nothing to do with COVID at all.
This is the biggest fraud ever committed by the Democrats and dwarfs their attempts to steal an election.
How many of the cases are people who have already had it, and gotten over it?
Like you, I worry more about Antifa/BLM than I worry about COVID.
“Any thing Donald Trump does, says, or signs, is ALWAYS false, and must be torn up”
Word of the Election Fraud is sticking.
It’s a travesty that Cody Jinks can’t get on the radio.
An historical or traditional definition of hoarding in an older Webster’s of mine, I’d have to look it up to get exact, is something along the lines of an individual acquiring large unreasonable quantities, more than they can ever possibly use of an item, and further, depriving others of this needed good. Something like that. Sounds fairly reasonable.
This came to the forefront during World War I, the first world war, in America. I don’t believe they had the huge bureacratic ration system as was in place by WW 2.0, but they did read everybody the riot act and things like sugar and flour were in short supply.
Someone “hoarding” vintage bottle openers, or left handed crescent wrenches, or old newspapers, while maybe weird or eccentric, doesn’t deprive anyone else of anything, as there is no demand, so doesn’t meet this definition.
My first thought during the Spring and into summer, when things started to ease up a bit, was that any sane, rational person will keep on keepin’ on and immediately start preparing for Winter. Have enough calories, enough food value on hand, fo make it through for you and yours.
Prepping is survival.
You are right, everyone in previous eras was a prepper, stocking up so that they would have enough in months when supplies were less available.
That is natural.
There is a direct correlation between lockdowns, runs on supplies, and shortages.
You mean they finally used up what they bought last time?
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender yelled “last call”.
I’m calling BS on this latest panic and doom article from the South SF Bay area.
It sure looked like not all (or many local) stores have plenty on their shelves. I walked by hundreds of rolls in multiple stores just yesterday in search of pooch’s fave treats.
Costco always gets cleaned out thoroughly and quickly. Nothing new there.
Oops. My editing skills flee me.

"Cases, cases, cases but why no mention of death rates.....?"
Did I hear somebody ask about COVID-19 death rates?
Picking on California because of recently tightened quarantine rules, and noting that COVID-19 deaths for that state for yesterday, November 16, shows 10, please consider the following from a related thread.
Regarding California for example, the COVID Tracking Project shows not only that cases are rising in California because more and more people are being tested every day, just as PDJT had repeatedly said would happen, but that California daily deaths have actually continued to decrease from 219 deaths on August 1, 2020 to 35 deaths on November 15, 2020.
Key Metrics by State

Again, desperate Democratic COVID-19 alarmists are seemingly moving the COVID-19 "goal posts” by now emphasizing rising daily cases, a result of increased testing imo, instead of falling death rate.
Also, artificial lighting urbanites might consider including vitamins D3 and C supplements in their diet to help fight COVID-19 and flu in my non-medical opinion, especially since sunlight hours are getting shorter.
In fact, precautions against COVID-19 may be helping to slow down spread of flu in my non-medical opinion.
The Flu is Gone (11-13-20)
But it’s also being questioned if medical professionals are following the money by diagnosing sick people as having COVID-19 instead of flu since COVID-19 problems pay better than other diseases.
Flu cases ‘drop’ 95% compared to last year. Are patients being misdiagnosed as having COVID-19? (10-19-20)
Corrections, insights welcome.
Hospitalizations normally go up a lot this time of year. How much of this, if any, is due to Covid?
All of it! </Fauci, et al.>
OH??????????
There’s a peanut butter shortage? Grab the car keys!
“left handed crescent wrenches”
Just to show I read your post.
Because it’s CASES that matter.
No one not on FR is thinks that the important thing is the death rates, it’s the infection and the aftereffects.
Lots of people who have had it are still feeling the very serious effects.
In Washington state, Gov. Jay Inslee had already said: ‘I really hope we don’t have hoarding going on in our stores. That’s really not necessary and most unhelpful’
My response is simple; “Your failure to plan should not be my emergency.”
Last Sunday while folks were out emptying shelves of TP, I drove & ferry ride for 3 hours to buy a new “fun gun” and more ammo.
Do not let stress kill you.....it is a serial killer.
