Yes, part of the solution to Army-Navy rivalry is for the Navy to have their own Army — the Marines.
"How many amphibious landings have the Marines made in the last 50 years?"
POS Richardhead Troll Alert!
Semper Fi!
How many nuclear wars have we fought since 1945 sport? Yes we might as well get rid of the nuclear missiles too, and navy boomers.
Screw this jealous retired nutcase. Semper Fi 67-71.
My perception of where the Marines are and where they are going is nearly an entirely special operations force. Like a Medium Size Hammer of something between a seal force and a full Army invasion. I don’t see any other comparable force structure in the military currently, not to say that it couldn’t be created but why when you already have it with a great history and tradition.
Two of the Marines were marine infantry captains . They both had crappy attitude and kind of fed off one another They were kind of the mentality that this is stupid army stuff and we shouldn’t be doing it. They quit. They were prideful though. I’ll give them that
The third one was an NCO. Good guy, But he got a stress fracture in his foot and had to leave for medical reasons
We also in a class had a Navy seal who was dumber than a bag of hammers but Tough as nails and he passed
My gosh. It was a joke. As I presumed your post was.
I don’t have any anti-Army animus. I respect them. But there are douchebag flag officers, and they have always been there, who seem to have an unusual animosity for the USMC.
We are using mercenaries now because the military has to much bloat to do jobs they used to do.
An age ago I met Marine Treadheads in my Armor Officer Basic Course. I guess there weren't enough of them to set up a separate school. There was some good natured ribbing back and forth, but we had a lot of respect for each other. Good guys.
Now, the Corps just got rid of all their tank units. Not sure how that's gonna work out. As I recall, tanks came in pretty handy on Okinawa and several other islands.
when you realize that most of the US Military officer corps are merely a social-engineering, statist, DC bureaucrats, no different from HHS, Interior, or Dept of Education or any other government office - the mindset is completely understandable
Have you read the rest of this guy's positions?
"...imposition of martial law at the U.S.-Mexico border with orders for troops to shoot people if necessary to stop illegal immigration..."
"...European countries are too welcoming to Muslim invaders..."
Not exactly snowflake stuff.
It’s probably not a majority opinion on this forum, but if you are serious about reining in the defense industrial complex, you have to realign the forces and that means rolling the Marines into the Army. There can still be Marine units, just make the eagle globe and anchor a skill qualifier like Ranger. Otherwise, you’re just arguing about costumes and fighting over which strippers to marry.
Thanks for taking the time to make a thought-out point.
I think most respondents on this thread read no further than the title.
Concur and lol!
Exactly, when the Feds are running a $3.1 trillion annual budget deficit (probably double that under a Biden admin.) then all options for budget balancing should be up for discussion.
That’s when you launch the Ready Brigades of the 18ABN Corps. Anywhere in the world in less than 18 hours. Five divisions of light, airmoble and airborne to follow in three days..
Forwards stationed Brigades the the 193 SETAF, 73 ABN and Grunt ugly trio of Ranger Betts produces more combat power than the entire USMC, minus the air arm. The USAF indeed works for the Army.
That said, fleet Marine elements have unique and mostly unused LOTS (logistics over the shore) capability to sustain a force ( either a beach head or break in ) force of Marines Or Army.
The USMC recently gave back all the Abrams tanks and tanker Marines back to the Army. Imagine, former Marines swapping anchor globe and eagle for Army green....
They now have almost no ground combat capability against armor..... Think beaches won’t be defended with heavy armor? Okay.
God bless the US Marine Corps.
Served in combat more than once shoulder to shoulder with Marines.
Retired Army Col. Douglas Macgregor, newly-appointed as a senior adviser at the Pentagon, has a track record of making controversial statements. But his most provocative of all might be a proposal to do away with the U.S. Marine Corps. In a 2012 opinion piece for Time Magazine, Macgregor, a decorated veteran of the Gulf War, argued that the Corps was living on its past glories and was unsuited for combat on today's battlefield, with the possible exception for pushover enemies. He went further, too, suggesting the acronym "USMC" should really stand for "Under-utilized Superfluous Military Capability." "Most of today's Marine force consists of airmobile light infantry," Macgregor wrote. "This Marine force is designed for use in the developing world against incapable opponents from Haiti to Fiji, but not much else."
Partner, I want to know who this DA is right now.
Is this guy brainless and does not know if it were not for the USMC that the U.S. could not have won WWII against the Japanese.
This guy should not even be in the military.
Retired Colonel Douglas Macgregor.
Are correct to assume that he was a Lieutenant Colonel (O-5) and retired “up” as a full bird (0-6)?
I am truly impressed. /S
This guy is not fit the shine the shoes of a Marine recruit in boot camp.
If the Marine Corps is the tip of the spear, the Pentagon is the ass-end of the spear.
My opinion of the Pentagon was solidified when I read of fire incident at the Pentagon in 1959 in which the Air Farce datacenter was immolated.
Ping
If Biden manages to steal the election, the USMC and the rest of the US Military would be used only to protect and further the interests of the Globalists/NWO.
WTH, enlistments/re-enlistments would drop like a rock once young men realized what was happening..
