Pennsylvania Republicans plan 'extraordinary measures' to delay election results

WASHINGTON — Republicans in the Pennsylvania state legislature on Tuesday said they would take “extraordinary measures” to find out whether the election in their state was fair, despite having no evidence of any wrongdoing.

State Rep. Dawn Keefer, a Republican from York County, announced that Republicans in the state legislature would move to conduct an audit of the election, and that the state should not certify the election results, or select electors to the Electoral College, until it is completed.

“The General Assembly needs to take extraordinary measures to answer these extraordinary questions,” Keefer said while speaking in front of a group of a dozen or so House Republicans.

But Keefer admitted that she and the Pennsylvania GOP do not have anything more than questions. There is no evidence of anything resembling coordinated cheating in the election.

“We've just gotten a lot of allegations,” Keefer said, referring to what she said was a flurry of calls and e-mails from voters “who are concerned and outraged by the circumstances surrounding this election.”

Of course, the only circumstances that would lead any voter to believe there might have been cheating has been the evidence-free complaints from President Trump that such cheating did occur, and that Democrats are trying to cheat.

That violates the U.S. Constitution on its face. No state law can supersede the Constitution.

In what way? The Constitution gives the legislature the power to decide how electors are awarded. They decided that electors are awarded based on popular vote. They can change that, but doing so after the election seems to be of dubious legality. Otherwise what is to prevent any legislature in any state from selecting the electors of their choice if they don't like the results of the election?

Well and truly stated. The Legislature knows the law they passed has not been followed. THEY need to act. But are they typical republicants who the media can intimifate and lead around with a ring in their republicant noses? This Gal seems to have shed the nose ring ...

The Constitution clearly says the legislatures have the sole right to appoint electors.

Nothing prevents that. That's the whole point. It's a FAIL-SAFE measure perfect as a remedy for massive voter fraud.. Man you are really being extra obdurate tonite.

No post facto laws. The election has occurred.

Yeah, they need to see something besides the media narrative...
like a huge President Trump rally in their district?

Politics ain’t beanbag. Sometimes a person needs reinforcement to do the right thing.

No state legislature is going to do that. It would result in a revolution.

I know you want your slaves back, but it isn’t gonna happen.

The Dems were the ones delaying the election results.

That is great but what about the independent numbers? In many states independent registrations are as much as 1/3

In that, again, the legislature is the ultimate arbiter of whom is awarded the Electors.

I think eyeamok may have it correct.
The PA legislature says the state violated the constitution by setting election law, which is a duty of the legislature. The violation brings the vote totals into question.
Therefore, throw the election out and assign electors that will cast votes for Trump.
Just do it.
Will the Supreme Court have the balls to back this up?

There was a story on Oct. 22nd in the Bucks County Courier-Times that had the following numbers for voter identification/registration:

46.6% D
38.9% R
14.4% I

I assume this is for statewide registrations/identification. Poster Flavious_Maximus @53 notes that there are 1.4 million votes to be counted and that Trump's lead on Election Night was 780,000. Assuming that Biden wins all of the Independent vote included in the 1.4 million outstanding (unlikely, but things like this have been reported elsewhere), that means a net gain of 309,400 for Biden. That leaves Trump still ahead by 470,600. That is about x10 better than he did against Hillary. Seem unlikely? Not really. There never was the enthusiasm on the 'Rat side for Biden as there was for Hillary.

I think I did the arithmetic correctly, but someone may wish to verify those numbers.
