Nancy Pelosi Formally Requests Two More Years as Speaker of the House

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Friday formally requested two more years in the role following a lackluster performance for House Democrats, losing at least seven seats.

“Our vision for the next two years must be built on the success of Democratic House Majority in the 116th Congress, and to harness the extraordinary visions, values and vibrancy of our Caucus to secure the progress that the American people deserve,” Pelosi wrote in a letter to colleagues on Friday.

“In that spirit, I am writing to request your support to be re-elected as Speaker,” she continued. “I do so with utmost respect for the diverse viewpoints in our Democratic Caucus, the gravity of this role the urgency of the challenges ahead.”

“I also do so with the great joy and appreciation to so many of you who have already offered your support,” she added, following on from a promise she made over the weekend.

When. Hell. Freezes. Over.

It's up to the House Democrats (assuming they keep control of the House). Considering how bad a job she did with the 2020 House elections, considering what a PR disaster she is for the Democrats, and considering that the Democrats would likely replace her with someone even more extreme, I think that all things considered, I want her continuing to damage the Democrats as House Speaker. Beats having AOC there.

I wonder if having AOC (along with Omar and the rest of her ilk) damages the Democrat brand even more?

If Nancy is so toxic maybe the Republicans should vote for her.

Colin Peterson (one of the only two Democrats) to vote for impeachment lost in the Minnesota 7th district, where I once lived. He was one of the last sane Democrats.

There is no requirement that the speaker be a member of congress. If all the GOP plus a few vulnerable Democrats elected him, he would be in.

The entire House votes on Speaker. There are enough Republicans that it would take only a few ‘RAT votes to get AOC elected to put idiocy front and center. I am mulling over what the “Operation” should be called. I initially thought Operation Clueless, but Operation Crossfire Clueless Con Peabrain (Operation CCCP) may be a more accurate name. Are there other suggestions?

Interesting point - clearly some Democrats are panicking over the House election results and have been blaming Pelosi for allowing the hard left to grab so much attention and control. Letting them go full Marxist might end up blowing up in their faces - or it might help normalize AOC and Ilhan Omar even further with the Democrat base.

I’m formally requesting of God that HE remove her from office by whatever means HE deems fit.

Just when are these evil democrat fossils going to hit their expiration date?

They are certainly past their best by date.

Pretty sure we don't even know who will control the House at this point. Things were looking pretty solid for the GOP yesterday, but I have no idea where things stand today.

Considering the dissension in the ranks that I read about yesterday,IIRC, the moderate dems just might side with the republicans on some issues and block the far left rabid wing of the democrat party to try to keep them in check and from destroying the democrat party altogether.
