I certainly wouldn’t want my ballot “corrected” in this way without a witness from the GOP to sign off on it.
It is not being corrected, if this is what they reported, the data is being transferred to a ballot that printed correctly. If they tried to scan the misprinted ballot things would be in the wrong positions, so it would not correctly register the vote or whom they had voted for, because the positional data would not be in the correct place.
