Following a tip from a few Freepers last night, I switched over to Newsmax and glad I did. I found their coverage to be fair, transparent, no wild speculation and data driven. Exactly what a guy like me looks for.
I'd looked at Newmax a year or so ago and thought they were completely unwatchable. I've had them on all day today (used to have Fox News) and have grown to quickly appreciate their coverage and reporting style. Just the facts, transparent and speaking to what is known.
Newsmax has won me over.
Fox News, of course, never claimed to be a conservative media source, but rather marketed themselves as "fair and balanced", by hiring a combination of liberals and conservatives so they shared "both perspectives" and let viewers decide for themselves. The liberal douchebags on their network weren't worthy my time, like having to listen to the likes of Shepard "yup, I'm gay, ya bigots!" Smith.
It's a bit like the "conservative" Chicago Tribune. Even when they were a nominally "Republican newspaper" and giving mild endorsements to George W. Bush in the early 2000s, they were still an enabler of the status quo and they were hardly anywhere near as "conservative" as liberals seemed to think they were, given that they continually applauded and loudly endorsed most of the usual Chicago machine marxist Democrats (Jesse Jackson Jr. and his ilk) for re-election, and moving the country further left on social policy.
Liberals still really loathe 'Fox News' though, and I find it amusing that they think we cannot think for ourselves and mindlessly believe and accept whatever we heard on 'Fox News'. Nothing could be further than the truth.
I do find it ironic though, that CNN has long been seen as a public enemy no. #1 to conservatives on here ("Communist News Network", "Clinton News Network", etc.), yet their election night coverage yesterday was actually MORE "fair and balenced" that Fox News saying stuff like "well 2% of the votes have been counted in New Hampshire now and it looks like Trump has 387 votes and Biden has 331. Well, that settles it! Biden CLEARLY won NH, light it up on the big board for Biden! Oh, Trump is ahead by 400,000 votes in Florida with 98% of the votes already counted? Hmmm. Could go either way"
The is the eternal perspective - I know that.
That is not referring to our nation. God said to Him nations are “as a drop in a bucket” and that includes the USA. He raises up nations for His purpose and use - and then brings them to nothing....so most are not even remembered.
Our time may be over. We have not only rejected Him for years, decades, but given Him the finger. The time of judgment on our nation may be here.
We can only cry for His mercy. There are no guarantees for nations - especially for those who reject Him.
I know what you meant...
However you said they “rule,” and I don’t think they rule...They are a huge problem—one that I hope Trump will address in a second term. It is fixable, but will take work.
Yeah - no cable - cut it yrs ago — just ROKU boxes PLUTO can be accessed from there... Free — so can OAN as well ... too easy !
Yes, “rule” probably was the wrong word - but it’s close to that for think how different half our populace would think if media were pro-Trump and anti-Biden?
I’d say the influence of media is too often what guides our nation. E.g., Covid-19.
No Covid-19, and no media blaming Trump for it, he would have won hands down.
So, there is a sense in which media does “rule”.
“...Fox News, of course, never claimed to be a conservative media source, but rather marketed themselves as “fair and balanced”...”
That’s pretty much all I ever wanted out of them - or ANY “news” outlet.
Show both sides, so people can make up their own minds.
But I know that’s just not going to happen - at least, not for a long time.
