Best luck to both of you. No doctor will tell you how much superior exercise is to diet or medications. I was lucky to take up golf as my exercise, and it was not boring at all, just the reverse, lot of fun and always met nice golfers on the course. Find something which does not bore you.
I was blue collar and pretty active after work as well. Then I made the mistake of sitting on my butt for a couple of years. Now I have hardening of the arteries aka atherosclerosis in my legs.
Exactly. Our hikes are stunning and wonderful. We downloaded the free version of the AllTrails app over a month ago and it is life changing. Weve never understood exactly where all the trails were here in East TN besides at the crowded national park. Now our eyes have been opened! We are so motivated. We were just discussing how unattractive machines are and fake people coaching you on. We are loving the less traveled woods and lakeside walks!
How true it is that exercise often gets overlooked. Doctors focus on caloric intake because its the most significant part of weight loss and they hand out medications for everything because thats the only thing THEY can do about the problem (the rest is up to you), but getting some exercise in every day, or almost every day, does wonders for overall health.
