I don’t normally recommend Hoft and GP, but Larry Johnson has a terrific story examiningbthe hospital data from one hospital in the Sarasota area, home to very large numbets of both reirees and snowbirds. The hospital reports the number of Covid paitients in hospital is abot 7% of occupied beds and in ICU, about 4% of occupied beds. But the numbers of positive tests have increased. That’s why the swamp only reports test positives. Other more valuable stats don’t match their narrative.

Wouldn’t this mean that SD is nearing herd immunity, then??

Left going after a conservative, smart Gov...because she’s doing things the right way.

A staggering 46 percent of coronavirus tests are coming back positive in South Dakota at the moment [...]

For all we know, "at the moment" could mean "this morning, in a certain senior care facility near Podunk, between 2:38 a.m. and 2:55 a.m."

Also, "46 percent" could also mean "23 of the 50 people we tested - all of whom had already been sorted out from apparently well people - in other words, all of whom we already suspected had come down with Covid-19."

Regards,

It took from the first case here until 2 weeks ago to get to 8 million. Next 2 weeks: another million.

Does that tell you anything?

“around 90% of samples taken from a set of positive tests that used 40 cycles were - really negative - because, when they were run through only 30 cycles, no viral remains were detected.”

That doesn’t mean they’re negative, but does mean very low levels. Maybe not enough to cause disease - but I don’t know it levels have been correlated..

I agree with your point that increases in positive tests doesn’t mean corresponding increase in Covid-19 cases and certainly not deaths.

It’s a virus. Virus do what viruses do regardless of masks, social distancing, or whatever. Some get it, some don’t. Over 99% survive.

I got emails from friends in South Dakota, much of the positive results, are very similar to my own Covid Positive experience. A little less energy, a loss of appetite, and some fever about 99.6 degrees for 3 nights. Folks, the MORE people get through and GET the virus, and build up the HERD Immunity, we will have this thing licked, but hiding in a Basement in Delaware won’t fix it. I have SCORES of friends who got over the thing easily. The President said, DON’T LET IT DOMINATE YOU.

QUESTION, IF... the big If, face masks, washing our hands, and mats that destroy virus on our shoes, and 6 ft. distancing actually DOES have some effect curbing the Virus Covid19. What about the other virus...herpes, hepatitis, pnemonia, meningitis, tubercuclosis... WOULD’T THERE BE A DOWNWARD SPIRAL, as these little beasts as well are getting nuked. I went on Google Search to compare Tuberculosis Deaths in 2019 vs, 2020, or meningitis, and I think they are hiding the results. THEY ARE THE SAME. which means, masks and hand washing IS NOT WORKING.

Entirely possible - which is why these “rates of testing” are ridiculous as a measure. There are variables that come into play as to who gets tested and why.

>one word Sweden no lockdown no masks lowest total *death rate* in the world.....

Would be cool if it is true, but it totally false. Sweden is 16th in death rate. 16th worst, not best. 576 per million. In comparison, all the neighboring Scandinavian countries have done massively better. Norway is it 52 per million, so Sweden is 10x worse. Denmark is 123 per million. Finland is 64 per million.

Honest question, how did you get that so wrong? Just wishful thinking? You get your info from Chinese spies?

I’d say if over 9 million tested positive in this country and 99.7 recover, that’s darn good.

If it continues at that rate, it will mean about one million dead Americans, mostly elderly. Darn sad.

That’s why the elderly need to be protected above all else. I find it odd that states that had very low case numbers when covid was at its most deadly, suddenly get infected months later. Same thing happened to Florida. Suddenly in June cases spiked. Almost as if it’s being deliberately spread.

Dakotans have figured it out with the help of the buffalo roaming the state and decided to go herd.

“..o the “figures” certainly ARE published...”

I have looked at them from time to time, but haven’t seen the rates of hospitalizations or deaths.

Over a month ago someone had the current mortality rates broken down by age which was great information. The lower age bracket had a mortality survival rate of 99.997, or thereabouts, which makes me wonder if the pandemic still exists.

Glad to read you are doing well. I honestly don’t understand the resistance to the idea of carefully building up community immunity.

"If it continues at that rate, it will mean about one million dead Americans, mostly elderly. Darn sad."

I've read somewhere that this year's death rate in the US from all causes is about normal. If true, it suggests that Covid - begins of its high-contagion rate - is just "elbowing out" flu and the "underlying causes" and replacing them as the cause of death.

lowest total *death rate* in the world.....

According to Worldometer, as of today, Sweden has 587 deaths/million, and France, Germany, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Israel (among others) are lower.

This woman is great! Who cares how many get the virus, the issue is how many survive it.

.indicating they’re nearly 1/2 way to herd immunity

Is there what you call "herd immunity" for the other human coronaviruses (OC43, HKU1, NL63 or 229E), all of which have been circulating freely for years?
